Gliding is a recurring ability used by Link in The Legend of Zelda series.[1]

Overview[]

The main purpose of Gliding is to reach distant places crossing gaps. The way Link glides varies from game to game.

The Wind Waker[]

The Deku Leaf have an important function is a glider. Link is able to Glide after jumping off of a ledge and using the Deku Leaf. Link holds the Deku Leaf above his head and can Glide for long distances. However, this consumes Magic Power. Link can change the direction of the wind with the "Wind's Requiem" to help him Glide faster, he can also glide to swirling updrafts get a lift in order to reach reach higher places.

The Minish Cap[]

One of the purpose of Ezlo in his cap form is a Glide ability. When Link jumps into an whirlwind he use Ezlo as a parachute to Glide through the air. Link can Glide through consecutive whirlwinds to gain boost in height to reach greater distances and regain any height he lost by Gliding.

Breath of the Wild[]

The Paraglider consumes Link's Stamina when used, limiting the time in which he may Glide through the air. If Link uses the Paraglider over a vertical draft caused by burning grass, he will be propelled upwards by the vent of wind.

In order to use a Cucco to Glide, Link must grab a Cucco, run off a ledge, and he will Glide with the Cucco squirming and frantically flapping its wings.
