Woodland Boars are stocky species of Boar with hunched backs and rotund abdomens. They are quadrupeds that walk on muscular legs, each one ending in a cloven hoof. Their bodies are covered in brown fur, with the abdomens and heads being a lighter shade than the muddier legs, haunches, tails, and ears. Spots appear down the back of the same muddy color mane rises from the Woodland Boars' shoulders and furry ruffs extend from their cheeks. Their eyes are small and beady. Woodland Boars' snouts are long and narrow, and are used to dig through the ground when grazing. Short ivory tusks poke out of their mouths, which are used to defend themselves when charging at potential threats. Their tails are short and end in tufts of hair. Their tails stand up when they are startled.

Woodland Boars are herbivorous swine that inhabit grassy and forested areas throughout Hyrule Kingdom, particularly Hyrule Field and the Lanayru Great Spring. When slain, Woodland Boars produce between one and two pieces of Raw Meat, but they are often quite skittish to approach and will flee once detected. Though uncommon, startled Woodland Boars may charge at Link in defense if he is detected. Woodland Boars will not charge at Link if he is on horseback. Bokoblins chase after Woodland Boars that wander near their camps, occasionally killing and eating them. Woodland Boars are notably the only large animals found on the Great Plateau, being most populous in the Forest of Spirits.
