Hyrule Compendium Entry
Woodcutter's Axes are great tools for cutting down Trees,[1] as they have a hidden property which multiplies their damage sevenfold when used against one. However, their weight makes them slow and inefficient Weapons.[1] The Old Man owns one, and he suggests that Link take it to defend himself with.[3] They are very common on the Great Plateau, as well as in groves of Trees.
Since they are made of metal, Woodcutter's Axes will attract Lightning when equipped during Thunderstorms and conduct Electricity. They can also be picked up using the Magnesis Rune on the Sheikah Slate, and they will sink if they are dropped in Water.
