The Voo Lota Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name The Winding Route,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine[]

Voo Lota Shrine is located in at Warbler's Nest on the Tabantha Frontier, west of Rito Village. The Ancient Shrine is initially buried beneath the ground, but once Link has completed the "Divine Beast Vah Medoh" Main Quest, he will find Kheel singing there on her own.[2] She asks Link to remind her sisters of their rehearsal,[3] which begins the "Recital at Warbler's Nest" Shrine Quest.

In Rito Village, Link will find Genli by the Cooking Pot, who demands Salmon Meunière before practicing her singing.[4] The rest of her and Kheel's sisters went to gather ingredients for her,[5]

Link can find all three remaining sisters throughout Rito Village. Cree is found in The Slippery Falcon, where she will give Link the Goat Butter she bought if he promises to make Salmon Meunière for Genli.[6] Kotts is found fishing at the ponds leading into Rito Village,[7] having forgotten about practice.[8] She will give Link a Hearty Salmon.[9] Finally, Notts is found on a ledge overlooking Akh Va'quot Shrine. Since she finished gathering her ingredient early, she decided to start practicing.[10] She will give Link her Tabantha Wheat so he can make Salmon Meunière.[11]

Once Link has sent the three sisters to Warbler's Nest, he can return to Genli at the Cooking Pot. If Link Cooks Salmon Meunière, Genli recognizes the smell and asks Link to let her have some.[12] If he gives it to her, Genli decides to keep her promise and head to Warbler's Nest.[13]

At Warbler's Nest, Link will find all five sisters singing a song. While standing on the Pedestal, he can use a Korok Leaf to blow through holes in the rocks nearby, in correlation to the sisters song. When this is done, Voo Lota Shrine will appear.[14] This completes the Shrine Quest.

As Link enters Voo Lota Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Voo Lota.[15]

Themes and Navigation[]

In front of Link, a Ladder extends high into the air. Atop the Ladder, a short tunnel leads to a Crystal. If Link walks close to the Crystal, the doorway he passed through will close behind him. Hitting the Crystal will open the floor from underneath Link and plunge him towards Lava.

Link is able to escape by Paragliding into a fan, which will blow him to a platform and a locked gate which conceals the Monk's Pedestal. To open the portcullis, he must jump west of the Monk and Paraglide to another platform, stopping before he hits a wall of Floor Spikes. He must then walk to the end of the path, where a fan can blow him upward to another platform.

Again, Link must jump and glide over and then under more Floor Spikes and land on another platform. On this platform, a Treasure Chest containing a Small Key sits next to a wall of spikes. He then makes his way back to the original platform and unlock the gate blocking the Monk's Pedestal.

Upon approaching the Monk, Voo Lota will grant Link a Spirit Orb for completing the Ancient Shrine.[16] Afterwards, Voo Lota wishes him well and fades away.[17]

On the last platform before gliding back and unlocking the door, a Treasure Chest can be found on a separate platform near containing a Flameblade. If Link diverts his course for this Chest, he will be able to make his way back to the main path via a few fans.
