Template:Enemy Pestos are giant flies that originally appeared in Template:AOL known as Boon,[1] and later reappeared in The Minish Cap. They are known for dropping rocks on Link's head.

Appearances

The Adventure of Link

These flies dwell in Eastern Hyrule, often found in plains and swamp areas and on Maze Island. They buzz around erratically, carrying rocks that they will drop onto Link. They will also crash into him when flying low enough. To defeat them, Link must use the Up Thrust or a well timed hit with the sword. They are not particularly strong, but they are bothersome, especially when combined with other enemies such as Tektites.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, Pestos are Minish-sized enemies, around the size of normal flies. They now appear in two different colors with different attack patterns: the red Pestos attack by flying at Link, while blue Pestos attack by dropping dirt balls upon him. The attack of a blue Pesto covers Link in earth, making him dirty, and can encourage Moldworms to attack. If Link throws bombs at a blue Pesto, the Pesto can pick it up and drop it back at Link. Using Remote Bombs, Link can defeat a blue Pesto by detonating the bomb while the Pesto is carrying it. Like their original appearance, Pestos will also pick up and drop rocks on Link.

Non-canon Appearances

Boons (Captain N)

Boons in Captain N: The Game Master

Pestos, under the name Boon, appear in the "Once Upon a Time Machine" episode of Captain N: The Game Master. While Link, Princess Zelda, Kevin, and Princess Lana are having a picnic in Hyrule, a swarm of giant Boons suddenly appear.[2] Link and Kevin easily dispose of a few of them; however, the Boons prove to be a major annoyance to the heroes since one of them takes Link's sword, another two take the picnic cake, and their presence eventually lead to Kevin's Zapper and Power Pad getting stolen by Count Gruemon.

Trivia

  • While Link is in his normal size, two tiny Pestos can be seen on Mount Crenel. These Pestos have no effect on Link.
