Triforce Charts are items in The Wind Waker.[1]

Uses[]

The Triforce Charts are necessary in order to gather all eight shards of the Triforce of Courage. The charts are hidden within different islands of the Great Sea, and to obtain them all Link must complete several challenges. The King of Red Lions informs Link that the entire Triforce of Courage must be completed in order to return to Hyrule.[2][3]

At first, the Triforce Charts are unreadable and Link must ask Tingle to decipher them.[4] For a fee of 398 Rupees each,[5] Tingle will decipher all eight of these charts, allowing Link to pinpoint the location of each of the Triforce Shards. Link will have to pay Tingle a total of 3184 Rupees for the deciphering of all eight charts. Link, after obtaining his second Wallet upgrade, can pay the entire lump sum at once, as his final wallet upgrade enables him to carry up to 5000 Rupees at a time.

In The Wind Waker HD, five of the charts are removed and replaced with the Triforce Shards themselves. The locations where the shards would otherwise have been now have new standard treasure charts along with different treasure.

Trivia[]

In the Japanese version of The Wind Waker, sinking the Golden Ship at Needle Rock does not give the player Triforce Chart 5 but rather Treasure Chart 16, which the player has to use to get the Triforce Chart as such:

  • Sail to Shark Island to get Treasure Chart 28
  • Sail to Needle Rock to get Treasure Chart 3
  • Sail to Eastern Fairy Island to get Treasure Chart 40
  • Finally, sail to Headstone to get Triforce Chart 5

Since this fetch quest was removed in the western version, the Treasure Charts were also moved:

  • Treasure Chart 16 is now the reward for killing the Wizzrobes on the Seven-Star Isles. In the Japanese version, the player got a Red Rupee, Golden Feather, and Bokobaba Seed.
  • Treasure Chart 28 was moved to the center of Horseshoe Island and replaced the Heart Piece that was there in the Japanese version. This Heart Piece in turn is now the reward for lighting the Windfall lighthouse, instead of just a few rupees.
  • Treasure Chart 3 was moved to one of the small islands at Forest Haven and also replaced a Heart Piece. This Heart Piece is now the reward for decorating Windfall with 14 items; in the Japanese version the player would just get 100 rupees.
  • Treasure Chart 40 is now the reward for destroying all the cannons on Southern Fairy Island and replaced a single Golden Feather.
