After Princess Zelda is imprisoned by the impostor king, the spirit Tri visits her cell and gifts her the Tri Rod, a mystical Rod capable of creating Echoes of objects and creatures to aid her in her escape. Throughout her journey through the process of mending rifts, Tri gains the power of allowing Zelda to create more Echoes without losing already existing ones.
