Toppo are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name reference needed]
Characteristics[]
A Link to the Past[]
Toppo hide in Grass and leap from it straight into the air before dropping back down. They are found in the Great Swamp and have large ears and bear two sharp claws. They are weak, and can be defeated by any weapon in Link's arsenal. However, removing a patch of Grass they are about to jump out of or land in will cause the Toppo to crash to the ground and lie there helplessly.[note 1] If Link approaches a stunned Toppo, it will give him either a Heart, Arrows, Bomb, a big Magical Decanter, a Fairy, or Red Rupees and call him a thief before disappearing in a skull-shaped puff of smoke.[2] Defeating them normally will only yield Hearts or Green Rupees. They are one of the few monsters that can speak. Toppo will no longer appear in the Great Swamp after the gate to the Dark World begins to open at Hyrule Castle.
Other Appearances[]
Ancient Stone Tablets[]
Cadence of Hyrule[]
A Toppo will jump out of the ground when a certain amount of rupees and treasures are on-screen, and will run to collect them. Drops the treasures it collected when killed, although, if left alive after collecting them, it will jump back into the ground without leaving anything behind. Acts the same as a leprechaun from it's predecessor, Crypt of the NecroDancer.
