"The Master Sword" is the eighteenth Recovered Memory in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview[]

"The Master Sword" memory begins immediately when Link draws the Master Sword from its pedestal within the Korok Forest.

The memory begins with a white screen, where Princess Zelda can be heard telling the Master Sword its master will return, and until then it will rest safely here.[2] As the white fades, the Master Sword is seen laying across its pedestal in the forest. Though the Slumber of Restoration within the Shrine of Resurrection will rid Link of his memories, Zelda begs the sword to trust that Link will come back.[3]

The Great Deku Tree interrupts Zelda, asking her what she plans to do next.[4] Looking back down at the Master Sword, Zelda reveals that she heard it speak to her and with determination she shares that her role is unfinished.[5] The Great Deku Tree is able to sense great strength in her dedication.[6]

Zelda tries to ask the Great Deku Tree to relay a message to Link when he returns for the Master Sword.[7] However, the Great Deku Tree cuts her off, saying any words she has for him would sound much better coming from her.[8] Because of this, Zelda smiles at him and agrees.[9]

Taking the Master Sword in her hands, Zelda drives it into its pedestal, leaving it there as she continues on her journey.

Trivia[]

  • Fi's theme can be heard playing in the background as Zelda speaks to the Master Sword.
