The Legend of Zelda HD was a technical demo shown at E3 2011 to showcase the advanced graphics capabilities of the Wii U. The demo displayed high-definition graphics in the style of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and an inventory screen displaying Bombs, a Bow, the Clawshot, the Gale Boomerang, the Iron Boots, and the Spinner. In the demo, Link battles what appears to be a new incarnation of the boss Gohma, resembling the design of Armogohma, within a large citadel resembling the Temple of Time from Twilight Princess.

In an interview with Wired magazine, Eiji Aonuma had noted that, despite Satoru Takizawa, art director of Twilight Princess, developing the technical demo, a Legend of Zelda game on the Wii U may have different art style, citing the differences and response gained from the Space World 2000 demo and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
