Move to Wall Merging[]

I suggest that we move this page back to Wall Merging. I've yet to play the game, but it seems like ALBW doesn't provide a name beyond this, and it's used on the official Zelda website (seen here). - TonyT S C 00:00, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

I agree that it should be moved. "Wall Merging" seems like a good title for the article, but I think "Merge" should be redirected as well. While playing the game, the command for the ability just says "Merge" when entering the wall (and "Exit" when leaving the wall). --Joshua (Yumil) (talk) 01:50, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Sounds good. — Hylian King [*] 02:53, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi again, Josh, Hylian King. I think the proper name for the page should be "Merging" or "merge" because Link doesn't necessarily merge into walls only, he also merges into some enemies items, for example Stalbind's shield. --Net34a (talk) 02:57, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
I think Wall Merging is fine, because that is the primary use, & the term “wall” is rather subjective. Plus, “merge” on its own might be a confusing term given its real-world meaning, & Wall Merging being used on the official site gives it an advantage over making up a term like Surface Merging. --ALegendGuy 06:26, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
I support a move to Wall Merging because of the official site, with redirects at Merge & Merging. We can explain the name choice in the article as Pakkun did above: “Wall Merging (as the official LoZ website calls it) is the ability to magically turn a person into a living painting on almost any flat, vertically-oriented surface. Yuga possessed this ability, which was later copied by Link with the help of Ravio’s Bracelet; although Link’s version was more limited.”[ As Link could only Merge himself, only while standing next to the surface in question, & only until the energy gauge was depleted. He also couldn’t create a frame to take another painting with him.] --ALegendGuy 06:26, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Uh, really? Why isn't this just part of Ravio's Bracelet? Having them separate is like having separate pages for Fire Rod the item, and the projectile produced by the item. It's not like Link can otherwise merge or un-merge with walls, and this page doesn't refer to anyone's ability to do it other than Link's. (Yes, Yuga can also do it, but that isn't even mentioned here, and many enemies can produce a fiery projectile without a Fire Rod.) --Douken (talk) 06:38, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, Douken, but "wall merging" is an ability, just like the Spin Attack or the Sword Beam. Ravio's Bracelet gives Link the ability to merge into walls, but that doesn't necessarily means the item is the actual ability. I think wall merging is the correct definition for what we're discussing.--Net34a (talk) 08:06, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
When I look at Ravio's Bracelet in-game, it reads, "A bracelet Ravio gave you that now gives you the ability to merge into walls!" Neither Spin Attack nor Sword Beam is inherently tied to an item. Link can't use either ability without the sword, sure, but Link can use the sword without using either ability--and usually does. Link can't "become a drawing" without Ravio's Bracelet, and Ravio's Bracelet has effectively no purpose other than to change Link into a drawing. That's the difference. --Douken (talk) 08:26, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Wall Merging is a major game mechanic completely governed by the single-use Ravio's Bracelet. As far as Link's usage of it, it should be covered as a part of that page. If you're also covering Yuga, Zelda, and the Sages' use of it, that would make sense to have a separate page.KrytenKoro (talk) 14:43, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
I think KrytenKoro has the right idea. The "Wall Merging" article should cover Yuga's use of the ability as well, and also mention the victims of the ability. Wall Merging could be compared to the Spin Attack because it is not directly tied to Ravio's Bracelet - Yuga is able to Wall Merge without using the bracelet. --Joshua (Yumil) (talk) 15:39, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
