Is this what they are really called?

Yeah, a Subrosian did refer to them that way. I move that the page be moved back to "Piratians".
"Some weird guys called Piratians have settled down south."
— Subrosian

Yep, Oni Dark Link is right in this instance. I could hardly believe it myself, but a timely check of the game disproved that. Moving it back. (By the way...in hindsight, how bad is the grammar of the Oracle of Seasons dialogue? JEEZ.) --AuronKaizer! 21:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

err crap. I'll try to fix this Fixed. Sorry bout that.—Triforce 14Triforce4 21:07, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

i wish i had these games. there the only ones dont own and have only played each one about twice. anyway what do you mean auron? they appear in both a linked and un-linked version of ages. id even say there first appearance is in ages since they appear in the past which presumably happens before oos present Oni Dark Link 14:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Name

"Piratians"/"Piratian" appears once in the OoS text dump:

  • "Some weird guys called Piratians have settled down south." -Subrosian

Pirate/forms of the word appears 4 times:

  • Pirate's Bell (x2) -Item Catch Text & Menu Description
  • House of Pirates -Map description
  • "You call your-selves pirates? Shameful fools! Getting sick the moment you set sail? ..." -Cap'n

Neither term shows up in OoA text dumps. So, given that 3 in game descriptions simply call them pirates, along with the Cap'n himself, it seems to me that the Subrosian was just messing up a term s/he didn't understand, as they often do (Shield>Cutting Board, Hearts>Peaches, don't know what a card that physically says "Member's Card" on it is supposed to be, etc.). Also it seems like if they were actually supposed to be called Piratians, they'd have actually used the name more than once.--FierceDeku 06:55, February 1, 2011 (UTC)

This isn't really all that clear cut. In my estimation, just using "pirates" to describe themselves seems more likely to refer to their vocation, especially given the series' track record with failing at insistent terminology. And besides which, such a move could cause confusion between other pirates appearing in the games. --AuronKaizer! 15:42, February 1, 2011 (UTC)
