If Link can get him Red Ore and Blue Ore, then he can make Hard Ore, which can be used to forge either the Iron Shield or the Mirror Shield, depending on the circumstances.
The Subrosian Smelter, like the rest of his people, is a big fan of dance, shown best as he dances while the Hard Ore is being created.
