Reasoning[]
For the record, the motivation behind creating this page was to improve the state of Link's Partners, which currently conflates:
- Major characters that are with Link for the whole game because they have some stake in the endgame (Partners)
- Minor characters that accompany Link sometimes (Mounts, Followers)
Conceptually the difference seemed clear to me and it just was just "bad luck" that Encyclopedia gave us the terms "Partner" and "Mount", but not "Follower." Not having a term didn't seem like enough reason not to move forward as long as the concept was well-defined. HylianKing (talk) 01:14, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- Deriving terms from the diagrams in character relationships is already a generous stretch of what our term conditions allow (given that these aren't at all meant to be names, titles, or aliases, it's my stance that they should be disallowed entirely) but unless "follower" can be justified as a term, this article is effectively the same as the "essay articles" that you've decried in the past. - The article is written as an encyclopedic entry about a game mechanic, not an essay about a theme. How can it be that the presence of a single capital "F" in some guide completely changes the validity of the article, even though its actual contents would be the same?
- If all new articles must necessarily be terms, please say so explicitly in the guidelines. HylianKing (talk) 02:24, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
