Well since there has been the starts of an edit war and I disagree with the current article state I figured it was a good time to bring this up on the talk page.
LinkTheLefty insists that the cross on the Darknut shields looks like a Christian style cross where AuronKaizer says that it is closer to a Red Cross style with the intersection being centered. If you look at the Darknut sprites from LoZ, the line's intersection are clearly not centered. I tend to agree with LinkTheLefty on this one and think that the cross on the Darknut shields should be mentioned on this page. EDIT I didn't look at the changes and only the change comments and didn't realize that AK's argument was on the Armos; where I completely agree with AK. --Birdman5589 (talk) 00:32, October 14, 2013 (UTC)
- My subsequent edits seem to have been reverted without regard for the actual content. The comments make it appear as if I have pressed for the ALttP Armos after it was immediately dimissed, but that was not quite the case - I instead dropped the subject from the article and left a link to the actual sprite intended as a side note for the summary in case a second opinion can come along. I will say that it is most definitely not the "Red Cross" because the specific colors are inverted and the proportions are not of equal length, but when you zoom in you can see more clearly that it is not quite the same as a standard Christian cross since it intersects through the middle, so I concede that it may not be relevant. As I said, I did not catch that when I made my initial edit, but I did call it a similar symbol rather than necessarily the same one, so I thought it was easily workable material considering we are dealing with off-pixels that come from a time when people were not so obsessed with clarity in their television screens. As for the NES Darknuts - it is absolutely clear as day that it is indeed another cross in the same fashion as the one on Link's own shields, without question. Even if, story-wise, you want to think it would not make sense for Link's underworld opponent to hold a cross as well, keep in mind that they are actually helping Zelda to guard the Triforce pieces for someone worthy in the labyrinths and are not depicted as Ganon's minions in this game, as they have a noticeable absence in Death Mountain. (I'm also not sure why reinforcing valid observations with official images originating from the other wiki apparently results in an automatic revert that promotes incomplete information...aren't we all fans?)
