Lack of Information/pictures[]

Until we need information on Oracle of Seasons/Ages, information about characters or a picture of them, this Wiki is good. When it comes time for this, however, it is pretty sub-standard.

We have information on the enemies, the bosses (which is fairly good information), the games themselves, even the Mystical Seed of Courage game which I never heard of until I came here. Yet we lack a lot of decent information on character.

Let's look at, say, Midna. She's from Twilight Princess, as 80% or more of us know. Why can't our articles on characters be as detailed as that?

I concede, Midna is a protagonist. We have a lot of information for her, and lots of people love her (I myself am a fan of her). However, how about Colin, from the same game? His article is more detailed than almost every non-boss OoA or OoS article on this wiki. He's a secondary character, so there's really no excuse for that. And even Coro, the oil seller has more information than some of these pages have. I mean, come on. Lots of people on this Wiki are over 20. I'm 17, and I got these two games when I was...twelve, I think. So why don't these people have these games? I'm really curious, and not in a sarcastic way.

The people I DID find are the most important characters to the series, so that's something I guess. However, quite a few characters are still missing.

I'm not going to start an OoA page tonight, I'm too tired. I might seem really annoyed, but truthully, I simply want what's best for this wiki. I'm sorry if I seem like a jerk right now, but I'm just a bit aggrivated that every time I go to look for a picture for this page, there's either no page for the character, or no picture for them. To repeat myself, I feel that us few Oracle fans have done a good job on the bosses, the mini-bosses and some of the enemies (quite a few enemy pages are little more than stubs, unless these enemies are in different games). However, I suppose there's little that can be done about that. Enemies unique to one game can't really rival articles the size of, say, Stalfos.

Truthully, to us Oracle fans, I feel that the Giant Ghini sized articles should be the absolute minimum for us. Let's all do what we can to make these pages something we can be truly proud of. --Yuvorias, 23:35, 21 April 2008 (EST)

Unfortunately, (for me at least) I think this boils down to the simple fact of availability of the games. Correct me if I'm wrong, but OoA, OoS and LA were only ever released on GameBoy. And you may think this is odd for a gamer of my age, but I never owned one! I do have the GameBoy Player for GC, and happened to pick up and old LA cart a while back (no clue where it is now, I'm really bad with any game paks...), but it really would be a concerted effort for me to search out OoA/OoS. These three seem to be the most neglected in terms of re-release, with others (such as LoZ, AoL, ALttP, OoT, MM etc) having been re-released on either Wii or GC, or in some cases both. So as far as I can tell, anyone playing games older than TWW today is most likely either not playing them in their original format, or is some die-hard retro game-aholic with an ancient NES tucked away under their Sega Master System/Atari 2600/Neo Geo etc. ;P I'm sure you see what I'm getting at, and that the lack of good info on the older games is a direct result of this. —Adam (talk) 18:12, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
True enough, sir. Most everyone I know owns almost none of the handheld games, and the Oracle games are probably the least known games in the entire series, with the possible exception of Four Swords. I'm almost finished with Oracle of Ages, and so I'll be able to help in greater ability after the second time I go through that, when I'll be emulating it (I OWN THE ORIGINAL GAME, PEOPLE) and taking screenshots. But until such a time, seems like you're the official Oracles expert, Yuvorias. --Ando (T) 18:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I play Ocarina in its original format. MM too! Anyhow, I only beat the oracle games once, and never together. I remember bits and pieces. Great games, but I prefer my LA. However, the fact of the matter is, Articles should not be slimmed down to match similar articles content. I know this is a radical suggestion, but perhapas: We should put as much relevent information as possible in these articles!. Lets take the SSBB articles as an example. I still don't get why these are here. It is for this reason that I refuse to put my ownership and knowledge of Soul Calibur II to use on this wiki (that and the game has no real replay value and no cpu fights where you can chose your opponent). If SSBB articles have info, we are clearly trying to get everything we can about these characters, but I think that listing everyting about every game that Link makes an appearance in is stretching it, esp. giving them there own articles. Just because Minda has more info than Colin means nothing more than there is more info about Minda than Colin. I can't look at the situation any other way. Oh and about the SSBB articles, why should King Dedede get an article but not Mad Batter (see Characters in Links Awakening). (Pokemon wiki argument, I know, but still).--Magnus orion 21:49, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, if I'm the expert, then I'll do what I can to give these articles a well-needed boost. I'll be at least starting an oracle of Ages character list today, and I'll see what I can do towards completing the Oracle of Seasons one here.

Incidentaly, Magnus has a point. I can find several sprites of these characters, but not full-size art, like for the main characters at the top of the page. I tried to make Sokra (a sprite) like these images, and...well, let's just say it didn't go so well. I've looked at the Link's Awakening page, and it might be a good idea to make pages like that. But yes, I think only a sentence or two will suffice for their brief description.--Yuvorias, 10:39, 22 April 2008 (EST)

I've beaten both games together and have the nintendo guide, so I can help if you guys want.KrytenKoro 01:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm doing the Oracle of Ages one right now, so I'd ask that you leave that one alone for now. However, if you can help with Oracle of Seasons, that would be great :) Yuvorias, 11:10, 22 April 2008 (EST)

Alright, I'm all for converting the character pages to this format (as was stated before, we don't really need separate sections for every character when it just links to their article anyway). One request, though: could we maybe alphabetize the character listings? Like every character in "Main Characters" is alphabetized, then all the characters in "Secondary Characters" are alphabetized, etc. Makes it a bit easier to find a character within the listing. --Ando (T) 02:18, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I have no objection to that. I've almost completed the Oracle of Ages page, so I'll post a note when I've done that. However, I'll leave Link as the first picture. Seeing as he is the protagonist. --Yuvorias

Alright... I'm sorta confused. Shouldn't the wiki at least be consistant with the two oracle games. Right now both character lists have a different format. I think we should use the list format, like LA and OoA for 2D games (whose characters have less backstory and are easier to sumarize in a sentence, as well as it possibly being their only mention on the wiki) and the style used here or maybe OoT's style, for 3D games (whose characters are often more complex and may not be able to be sumarised as well). Of course. The only question left would be which side Phantom Hourglass would take!--Magnus orion 20:14, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I am going to alter Oracle of Seasons to the Oracle of Ages style when I get a free moment. I've been busy with tests lately, so I haven't had a chance. That's why this is still like this.

Actually, screw it, I'll change it now. Please refrain from touching the page while I work on it.--Yuvorias, 9:38, 10 May 2008 (EST)

There we go, all done. There's more to go yet, such as images, but I can deal with those for the manga. However, it would help me if we could get our hands on an image of Oracle of Seasons' Biggoron and Subrosian Queen, and some actual artwork of Sokra. --Yuvorias, 10:38, 10 May 2008 (EST)

Looks great but.[]

To acknowledge the ambiguity of the order played as you have with the Great Moblin, I was thinking to change Link's summary.Axiomist 00:50, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

If I know what you're talking about, then that should be satisfactory. --Mr. Mystery, 10:57, 10 May 2008 (EST)
;) You got it. I couldn't think of a way to reword it.Axiomist 01:04, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
