Verification

I'm not sure if this is happening with anyone else, and it could easily be simple random chance. Every time I use the Zelda Amiibo figure, I get a weapon specifically for Zelda, and I will occasionally get a weapon higher than 3 stars from another figure. Additionally, the Link figure seems to only get weapons for Link as well. Can anyone else verify this? --KingStarscream (talk) 04:09, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Tingle?

The SMM section mentions Tingle, but the amiibo list at the top does not. Is Tingle going to have an amiibo, or is his costume some kind of boobie prize randomly given when using the others?KrytenKoro (talk) 14:00, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Tingle is a non-amiibo costume that can only be unlocked in-game. There are several non-amiibo costumes in-game that have to be unlocked. There is no Tingle amiibo and his inclusion in SMM doesn't necessarily mean he will get one. - Midoro ^{(T C)} 17:33, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Oof, that's a weird one. Including it on this page makes it sound like it's amiibo related, but the fact that it's a Zelda reference means it definitely has to be covered somewhere, and it doesn't make a lot of sense to create a new page just to have a 90% repeat of the info here. Maaaaaybe...create a page for the game, and have the section here just be a main-article link noting "this amiibo for this costume", quick and short? No. We already decided not to create a page for SMM, because the only Zelda-related things it has are mere costumes. It does not warrant its own page. Yes it is a bit odd in a way to include Tingle here when he does not have an amiibo, but he's there for completion sake.

Could we then move the gameplay information there, and on this page mention that the amiibos allow you to quickly unlock the respective costumes? That would prevent the implication that Tingle is an amiibo, and technically, the amiibo information is that it unlocks the costumes, and the cameo information is the costumes existence apart from the amiibos.KrytenKoro (talk) 13:54, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

I suppose it'd be fine to move the gameplay info there, though I still say that Tingle should remain just for completion sake. People would probably also add Tingle back in if they find him missing, despite having no amiibo. Merge the 30th Anniversary series and The Legend of Zelda series

In this article, we considered the 30th Anniversary series as a separate Zelda line from The Legend of Zelda series, because of its label. Its packaging is similar to The Legend of Zelda series. We can merge the 30th Anniversary series (TLoZ Link, OoT Link, TWW Link, TWW Zelda) and The Legend of Zelda series (TP Wolf Link, MM Link, TP Link, SS Link) into The Legend of Zelda series as a whole. We can tell that the 30th Anniversary counts as The Legend of Zelda but with a special "30th Anniversary sticker", unlike the SMB 30th Anniversary series which was separate to the Super Mario series because of its packaging. As far as I am concerned, the 30th Anniversary series is a separate series from The Legend of Zelda series. The packaging has no bearing on what series the amiibo are in. Only the Logo used has any bearing on that.

Personally, if we were to group the series together, I think the better term would be the one used on the European amiibo website, which is The Legend of Zelda collection. This would mean The Legend of Zelda, 30th Anniversary and Breath of the Wild are separate series but are all part of the same collection while the Super Smash Bros. series would be on its own. However, as this term is not used on the amiibo or the American website, I'm not sure if we could. User:Link Lab/sig 19:28, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

The Japanese amiibo website also grouped the the series altogether. So we can still say that the The Legend of Zelda, 30th Anniversary, and Breath of the Wild are in the same collection.

My suggestion is the package design, but the label, for The Legend of Zelda (excluding the BotW series) are similar. I can tell that Wolf Link is "wave 1" of that collection, the 30th ones are the "wave 2, and the next ones releasing on June 23 are the "wave 3". The BotW ones has its own waves, with the Champions being "wave 2" Tininfinite8 (talk) 04:39, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

We should ultimately go by what the packaging labels the series as. You can rationalize those waves as being part of the same series, but I don't agree that's the case. The 30th Anniversary series amiibo are specifically marketed apart from The Legend of Zelda series as a whole, and we should reflect this. TriforceTony (talk) 05:48, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

This is weird that we consider Wolf Link as part of The Legend of Zelda series along with the upcoming Zelda amiibo, but not the 30th Anniversary amiibo.

This image showed all the 30th Anniversary series, including the three new ones. Even in BotW's game data is this:

It is plausible that the three upcoming Zelda amiibo is part of the 30th Anniversary series, but putting the 30th Anniversary label makes them irrelevant to this year. Also this image, from NoA's Tumblr blog (posted on April 13, 2017) is a box art of Link (Majora's Mask) with the 30th Anniversary logo. There's nothing weird about the way Wolf Link is being handled. Wolf Link clearly uses the same label as the other three. The 30th Anniversary amiibo do not. What is weird is that Wolf Link was not part of the 30th Anniversary series, despite his release date. That twitter image is meaningless without context of the tweet that image was used in.

As for the game data and the tumblr image, (again, it's better to the link the post rather than just the image as the image doesn't show that the other two Links still had the label for The Legend of Zelda series) they suggest that TP, SS and MM Link were originally intended to be part of the 30th Anniversary series but are now part of The Legend of Zelda series. If we used the BotW game data, most of the Koroks would have to be listed as Kokiri instead because that is how they are listed in the game data (Hestu and the hidden Koroks are the exceptions). Well as of today, restocks of the 30th Anniversary amiibo have recently released in Japan. Notice that the reprint the packaging has big changes. The 30th Anniversary logo has been replaced with the general The Legend of Zelda series logo, and featured a red Nintendo logo.

Here are the differences. The 30th Anniversary logo has changed into the more conventional The Legend of Zelda logo, and the red-backgrounded Nintendo logo is featured. On the back, the Switch console compatibility is added, and Breath of the Wild's functionality is featured instead of the functionalities of three Wii U Zelda games.
