"Subdued Ceremony" is the first Recovered Memory in Breath of the Wild.[1]
Overview[]
This Recovered Memory can be activated at the Sacred Ground Ruins, just south of Hyrule Castle. It begins with the Champions watching Princess Zelda perform a ceremony with Link kneeled in front of her, recognizing him as the hero of Hyrule Kingdom.[2] During her speech, Daruk and Urbosa are shown to be concerned by Zelda's demeanor.
As Princess Zelda continues, Daruk comments to the others that the ceremony is not very uplifting and that she sounds as though they have already lost.[3] Revali then reminds Daruk that this was his idea,[4] revealing that he has little faith in Link's abilities.[5] Urbosa dismisses Revali's criticisms,[6] stating that she believes Zelda sees Link as a reminder of her own failure to unlock her sealing power.[7] The Memory then ends with Zelda staring down at Link.
Trivia[]
- The English[8] and Japanese[9] versions of Zelda's speech reference the events of Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess. The German version, on the other hand, references The Wind Waker and A Link to the Past.[10]
