Steel Trains are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][1][note 1]
Location and Uses[]
Spirit Tracks[]
The Steel Train is the name given to the Spirit Train once it has been outfitted with the following Train Cars:
Train Car | Cost | Description | |
---|---|---|---|
Steel Engine |
2× | Pearl Necklaces | This steam train appeals to strong, silent types everywhere. |
1× | Ruto Crown | ||
1× | Goron Amber | ||
Heavy Cannon |
2× | Pearl Necklaces | This steel cannon has unmatched accuracy. Its only hurdle is its weight. |
2× | Dragon Scales | ||
1× | Mystic Jade | ||
Sturdy Passenger Car |
2× | Pearl Necklaces | There may not be much room in this carriage, but it's incredibly safe. |
3× | Pirate Necklaces | ||
1× | Ancient Gold Piece | ||
Efficient Freight Car |
2× | Pearl Necklaces | The sleek, black luster is reminiscent of trains from the good old days. |
2× | Dark Pearl Loops | ||
1× | Goron Amber |
The Train Cars can be attached to the Spirit Train upon purchase from Linebeck Trading Company, or at any time thereafter at Alfonzo's house in Aboda Village. Used together, they give the Spirit Train a durability of 6 Hearts, up from its default of 4 Hearts. Aside from this boost in durability, the Steel Train is merely a change in appearance to suit the player's personal tastes.
Other Appearances[]
Hyrule Warriors Legends[]
In Hyrule Warriors Legends, Steel Trains appear as an Item Card on the Grand Travels Map in Adventure Mode, although only the Steel Engine is visible on the card. The Grand Travels Map was not included with the Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks Pack for the original Hyrule Warriors, so Steel Trains weren't introduced until the Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks Pack released for Hyrule Warriors Legends.[3][4] Because Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition came with all previous DLC packs included, Steel Trains are available from the moment Adventure Mode is unlocked.[5]
In similar fashion to the other train Item Cards, Steel Trains cannot be purchased in the Item Card Shop and can only be obtained by completing a battle that has a Steel Train as its victory reward.[6] Because the Grand Travels Map is split between Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass-based sections, Steel Trains only appear as victory rewards of battles to the left on the pink dividing line. When a Steel Train is used, it activates an Engine Power that causes every battle across the entire map to get two random recommended Elements added to them.[1][7] The Engine Power provided by the Steel Train runs for three battles and cannot be overridden with another Engine or Captain Power.[8]
Steel Trains can be traded for a random delicious-type Food at the Linebeck Trading Company.[9] While searching a map space with the Linebeck Trading Company, any Item Card can be traded by selecting it.[10] After a single trade, the company will disappear from the space.[11] During a Two-for-One Sale, two delicious Food will be given instead of just one.[12]
