"This Hyrule bass got to be the biggest fish by never getting caught (until now). Its long life results in a cooked dish that will restore a lot of stamina."
Hyrule Compendium

The Staminoka Bass is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a curative item that restores Link's health by refilling one Heart Container. Link can cook with it on an open flame or a very hot surface to make a Roasted Bass which restores three heart containers, or prepare a Frozen Bass in cold condition which restores two heart containers. He can throw a Hearty Bass into a cooking pot to prepare dishes granted with a "Energizing" effect temporarily restoring a part of the Stamina Wheel. It can also be cooked with "Energizing" small animals such as Energetic Rhino Beetle, and Monster parts to create a Energizing Elixir.

Its description reveals that the Staminoka Bass is actually a mature Hyrule Bass with a longer life which has grown bigger by never getting caught. Its long life is the source of its energizing effect as Hyrule Bass have no additional effects unless they mature into Staminoka Bass.

In the Side Quest "A Wife Washed Away", Link receives five as a quest reward from Mei. The travelling merchant Bugut sells them though only when its not raining.
