Libraries appear in Kakariko Village, Koholint Island, Labrynna, and Hyrule Town in The Legend of Zelda series.

Appearances

A Link to the Past

In A Link to the Past, the House of Books is located south of Kakariko Village. The Book of Mudora can be found on the top of a bookshelf, and can be knocked down by running into it with Pegasus Boots.

Link's Awakening

Link's Awakening mainly uses a library as a reference for controls.[1][2][3][4][5][6] Readable books also include a Koholint Island Atlas[7] and directions to be used inside the Wind Fish's Egg.[8] In the DX version, a book to find the extra 'Color' dungeon sits atop a shelf. Also retrieved by dashing into it.

BookOfSeals

Library in Oracle of Ages

Oracle of Ages

Oracle of Ages includes a Library with a similar book knock down challenge. The Book of Seals is acquired. It contains directions for a path in the past.

The Minish Cap

Main article: Royal Hyrule Library

In The Minish Cap, the Royal Hyrule Library is home to the Minish elder, Librari. Link must find three members of Hyrule who have overdue books. When the task is done, the Library will store the books back on their shelves, giving Link the chance (as a Minish) to climb them and reach Librari. When Vaati the evil sorcerer takes over Hyrule Castle, a vassal guard will block the way to the Library, preventing Link from venturing inside anymore.

Non-canon Appearances

A Link to the Past comic

In the A Link to the Past comic, the Library in Kakariko Village is known as the House of Books. When Link returns to Kakariko to find clues about the remaining two Pendants of Virtue,[9] he finds the Library has been set on fire by Agahnim's soldiers.[10] Link learns that the Librarian, who Link must speak to according to Sahasrahla,[11] is trapped inside the flames.[12] The young hero pours a bucket of water on him and barges in to successfully save the librarian, who eventually gives the young hero the Book of Mudora, which they managed to save from the flames.

Theory

Theory Warning

It is thought by some fans that Impa's House from Ocarina of Time is actually the library from A Link to the Past. This theory stems from the idea that both locations are found in Kakariko Village and has many books inside. This connection is made further by the fact in the remake, there are many more books and bookshelves, and on a table there is a green book with the Sheikah Eye, which is thought to be the Book of Mudora.
