Rusty Broadswords are a type of Weapon known to break easily due to their age.[1] They can commonly found in Hyrule Field and Eldin Canyon, where they either have been abandoned or are wielded by low-level Enemies. One spawns in a stone on a small island in a lake near the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau. They also have a chance to appear in Treasure Chests that spawn when the Breath of the Wild Series Guardian amiibo is scanned with the amiibo Rune.
Rock Octoroks will inhale Rusty Broadswords when they are placed in front of them, spitting back out a cleaned counterpart.[2] There's a 50% chance for a Traveler's Sword, a 35% chance for a Soldier's Broadsword, a 10% chance for a Knight's Broadsword, and a 5% chance for a Royal Broadsword.
Rusty Broadswords are made of metal, so they can attract Lightning during Thunderstorms and conduct Electricity. They will sink in Water and can be picked up using the Magnesis Rune. If they are exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate, they will not burn like wooden Weapons do.
Rusty Broadswords belong to the Rusty Gear equipment archetype, which includes Weapons that have become deteriorated.[2]
