Template:Character Wandering Merchants, also known as Traveling Merchants,[1] and as the Goron Merchant in The Minish Cap, are recurring characters in the Template:LZS. They are Goron merchants who travel the world selling their wares.
Appearances
The Wind Waker
In The Wind Waker, wandering Goron salesmen travel the Great Sea in search of valuable goods and rarities.[1] These Wandering Merchants can be found scattered across three islands on the Great Sea, including the Mother & Child Isle, Greatfish Isle, and Bomb Island.[2] They can be found on or near their rafts, which they use as their main form of transportation.[1] The Wandering Merchants are distinguished by their enormous rucksacks on their backs and their characteristic hats that cover their entire upper face, leaving only one eyehole to see through. The merchants seem to know where each other are stationed, as each merchant will mention which islands the other two can be found.[3] They claim to be from a faraway place.[1]
Wandering Merchants will trade with Link if he has purchased an item from Zunari, in a process known as the Island Trading Sequence.[4] Each merchant has a different item that Link may trade for. Every time Link trades with a merchant, not only does he form the Merchant's Oath with that salesman, but the item he received in trade becomes available at Zunari's Shop on Windfall Island. Link may continue trading items with each merchant, receiving new and different items by trading with different merchants. Link can ultimately receive a Piece of Heart by trading the Shop Guru Statue with the Greatfish Isle merchant.
The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, a Goron Merchant appears after Link has fused Kinstones with the first Goron in the Lon Lon Ranch tunnel. This merchant appears wandering around North Hyrule and immediately decides to open a shop in Hyrule Town. The Goron Merchant will then be found in the town square selling three differently colored Kinstone pieces: Red, Blue and Green, although the shape of the Kinstone pieces is entirely random when bought. Green Kinstone pieces cost 50 Rupees, Blue pieces are priced at 200, and Red pieces at 300. If Link purchases all of the Kinstone pieces on show, the Goron Merchant will restock his wares at a later time.
Trivia
- If Link has the Deku Leaf in The Wind Waker, he can use it to blow a Merchant's hat into the air, revealing that they are in fact Gorons.
