The Shield Gauge is a mechanic in Skyward Sword.[1]
Overview[]
The Shield Gauge is a bar in the top-left of the screen that tracks how much Durability is left on Link's Shield. It's size and color depend on the Shield equipped. When Link blocks an Enemy attack but does not successfully perform a Shield Bash on it, the Shield Gauge will decrease. Once the Gauge is empty, the Shield will break.
The Shield Gauge for Sacred Shields, Divine Shields, and Goddess Shields will regenerate over time. The Shield Gauge for the Hylian Shield is purely decorative and will never be reduced.
