"Return of Calamity Ganon" is the fifteenth Recovered Memory in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview[]

The "Return of Calamity Ganon" Recovered Memory can be unlocked at the Lanayru Road - East Gate. It opens up on the day of Princess Zelda's 17th birthday, with the Champions awaiting Link and Zelda's return from the Spring of Wisdom at the top of Mount Lanayru. As they make their return, Zelda is clearly despondent.

Once Link and Zelda reach the East Gate, Daruk asks what happened and not to keep them in suspense.[2] Princess Zelda solemnly shakes her head, clearly upsetting the other Champions. Revali steps forward to ask if she truly felt nothing,[3] which Zelda quietly apologizes for.[4]

Urbosa declares that they should move on,[5] assuring Zelda that she has done all she could and that feeling sorry for herself will not help.[6] She reminds Zelda that the Spring of Wisdom was not her last shot and that anything could spark her sealing power.[7] She affirms that they just need to keep looking.[8]

Mipha looks to Link, whose eyes are on Zelda. She tries to give Zelda some advice, though at first she struggles with what to say.[9] She reveals that she has been thinking about what she does while she is healing people, and she tries to explain what she thinks about when she uses her power.[10] However, she is interrupted by the ground shaking.

Using his Gale, Revali flies straight up to see Hyrule Castle under siege by Calamity Ganon. The rest of the Champions quickly realize what has happened.[11][12] Mipha asks if they are sure,[13] to which Revali responds that he is positive.[14] Princess Zelda realizes that Calamity Ganon has awoken.[15]

Daruk addresses the group, claiming they will need everything they have to take the Calamity down and commanding the rest of the Champions to return to their Divine Beasts.[16] He further states that Link will be meeting Ganon head on, so their assault needs to be unified.[17] He directs Link back to Hyrule Castle,[18] much to Revali's annoyance. He assures Link that he can count on them for support, but reiterates it is up to him to defeat Calamity Ganon.[19]

Urbosa places her hands on Zelda's shoulders, trying to convince her to retreat somewhere safe.[20] But Zelda refuses, stepping away from Urbosa and insisting that although she may not have much use on the battlefield, there is something she can do to help.[21] The Recovered Memory ends with the Champions gazing up at Calamity Ganon's Malice storm, Daruk rubbing at the back of his head.
