This article is about the enemy, for the object see Rope.

The Rope (ロープ, Rōpu) is a common enemy found in a variety of Zelda games, making its debut in the original The Legend of Zelda. It has appeared in every 2D Zelda game. These serpentine-like enemies seem docile under normal circumstances, but will charge at targets that they determine to be prey or a large threat. They are easily dispatched with most conventional weaponry. Unlike most enemies throughout the evolving Zelda series, the Rope has changed relatively little in attack pattern and appearance. In Japanese, the Rope from The Adventure of Link is know as Aaneru (アーネル).

Legend of Zeelda

Ropes first made an appear during the original Legend of Zelda. They are first encountered within the second dungeon, known as 'The Moon'. The rope takes on an orange color in the first Zelda quest.

The Minish Cap

Quote from The Minish Cap's Rope figurine:
"Appears in various areas. They’ll come straight for you if they spot you. Just swing your sword when they charge at you."

Phantom Hourglass

Ropes make their 3D debut in Phantom Hourglass. Still, they attack almost exactly as they have in the past and haven't changed much physically either.
