The Red-Tusked boar is a stocky species of boars with a hunched back and rotund abdomen. It is a quadruped that walk on muscular legs, each one ending in a cloven hoof. Its body is covered in black fur, with the abdomen and head being a lighter shade than the darker legs, haunches, tail, and ears. Spots appear down the back of the same muddy color mane rises from its shoulders and furry ruffs extend from its cheeks. The boar's eyes are small and beady. Its snout is long and narrow, and is used to dig through the ground when grazing. Short crimson tusks poke out of the boar's mouth, which are used to defend itself when charging at potential threats. Its tail is short and end in tufts of hair. Its tail stand up when it is startled.
Red-Tusked Boars are herbivorous swine that are considered to be significantly stronger than Woodland Boars.[1] When slain, they produce between two to three pieces of Raw Prime Meat, but they are often quite skittish to approach and will flee once detected. Though uncommon, startled boars may charge at Link in defense if he is detected, but will not charge at him if he is on horseback.
