Bertie is a character featured in Skyward Sword. He is a timid, overworked father who infuses potions bought at his wife Luv's Luv and Bertie's Potion Shop in exchange for Bugs and Rupees.

Biography

Bertie works alongside his wife Luv in the Skyloft Bazaar. He cares for their young child as he works on infusing Potions his wife makes for customers.[1]

Later on in the game, Bertie can be seen acting tired and restless at his job. Speaking to him at his house during the night will reveal that his child's Rattle had been taken by a bird a while ago, causing her to be unable to sleep thus preventing him from sleeping as well.[2] Link can help him and locate the Rattle in Skyloft lying in a nest atop a house. Returning the Rattle to Bertie will reward Link with 5 Gratitude Crystals, ending Bertie's sleepless nights.[3]

Etymology

Bertie's name, and that of his wife Luv, is derived from a Lovebird, a small species of parrot.
