Pokeys are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. Pokeys are among the several enemies that originated in the Mario series of games and appear only in Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. They mostly appear in desert regions.

Pokeys are cacti made of a maximum of four individual segments. The topmost segment has a face. Each time Link strikes a Pokey with his sword, one of the segments is knocked loose from Pokey's body. It ricochets around the screen briefly before it is destroyed.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Pokeys, along with several other enemies from the Mario games, make their first appearance in Link's Awakening. Here, they appear mostly in the Yarna Desert.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons, Pokeys appear in Samasa Desert in Oracle of Seasons. Interestingly, if a Mystery Seed is used on a Pokey, it will add a new segment to the Pokey. Pokeys can have up to four segments at a time in this way.
