Petey Piranha is a character from the Mario franchise. He is a giant, mutated Piranha Plant. Though he has not appeared in The Legend of Zelda series or its spinoffs, Petey Piranha does appear in a few games of the Super Smash Bros. series, notably being the initial kidnapper of Princess Zelda in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Petey is the first boss of Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. After a friendly battle between Mario and Kirby concludes on the Midair Stadium, Petey kidnaps Zelda, as well as Peach, into cages, dangling Zelda's cage from his right arm and Peach's cage from his left arm. Petey proceeds to blast Mario away with a cannonball from his mouth. A boss fight between Kirby and Petey Piranha begins.
During his boss fight, Petey attacks by swinging his cages and by jumping into the air then landing, capable of dealing damage from landing. Kirby must attack the cages until one of them breaks open, though he can also hit Petey Piranha directly to break open the two cages; however, Kirby can save only one princess, and the match ends once either of the cages are broken. When this occurs, Petey Piranha burns in flames and is defeated. Various cutscenes in the game are affected depending on whether Peach or Zelda had been rescued, as Wario changes the other princess into a trophy and steals it.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Petey Piranha is part of Piranha Plant's Final Smash. He wields the same cages as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, albeit without the princesses. He can capture opponents into the cages and concludes his attack by breathing fire on them and slamming both cages onto the ground.
