A Perfect Guard is a recurring ability in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Overview[]
Breath of the Wild[]
A Perfect Guard can be performed with any Shield the moment before an Enemy's attack lands by pressing the A-button.[1] Executing a Perfect Guard temporarily stumbles the Enemy, allowing for Link to quickly counter the attack. It may also disarm the Enemy. It also works on certain projectiles to be deflected right back at them, such as Guardian laser beams.
Other Appearances[]
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]
In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, characters with shields (such as Link and Urbosa) can perform Perfect Guards in the same manner as in Breath of the Wild, albeit with the Y button instead of the A button. Simply using a Perfect Guard will damage Enemies slightly, even if an attack is not parried. Perfect Guarding a large Enemy will slightly damage their Weak Point Gauge, and cause it to appear for a short time, allowing the player to damage it further and attempt to perform a Weak Point Smash.
