SSB4 Bowser

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U artwork

Bowser, nicknamed and alternately named King Koopa, is the arch-nemesis of Mario in the Mario franchise. He is the leader of his own army, the Koopa Troop. Bowser seems to have an infatuation with Princess Peach, and for this reason, he kidnaps her very often. Bowser is very powerful, threatening, and fierce, and he can breathe fire and stomp on the ground to damage enemies in his range. Bowser has a son named Bowser Jr., who is both his namesake and heir to the throne.

Bowser has not physically appeared in any games of The Legend of Zelda series, although he does make a few cameos. In the Super Smash Bros. series, Bowser is playable in every installment since Super Smash Bros. Melee and even teams up with Ganondorf in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in which both share an antagonistic role of being high-ranked commanders of the Subspace Army.

Mainline appearances[]

Ocarina of Time[]

In Ocarina of Time, Malon and Talon both have broaches portraying the face of Bowser. Additionally, a portrait of Bowser can be seen in the windows of the Hyrule Castle Courtyard, along with the likenesses of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi.

Majora's Mask[]

In Majora's Mask, Romani and Cremia, who are counterparts of Malon, both wear the same broach depicting Bowser's face.

Giga Bowser[]

Giga Bowser in Super Smash Bros. Melee

Giga Bowser is a giant, monstrous form of Bowser, original to the Super Smash Bros. series, and he has not appeared in the Mario franchise. Giga Bowser first appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where he can be fought in Adventure Mode if the player completes Normal mode or harder without using any continues in under 18 minutes. Defeating Giga Bowser earns the player the Giga Bowser trophy.

Giga Bowser has no direct connections to The Legend of Zelda series, but he does appear alongside Mewtwo and Ganondorf in the 51st event match of Super Smash Bros. Melee, The Showdown.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Bowser transforms into Giga Bowser for his Final Smash. In the latter game, Giga Bowser is also a boss, much like in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
