Advertising?

Hey, Pakkun! This is regarding your removal of my edit to the Skyward Sword manga page, where I added a link to the English translation of the comic on my website. I understand the desire to avoid having members that use ZeldaWiki to advertise their own websites, but because I do many translations of Zelda-related material that isn't available elsewhere, I have a lot of content on my site that I feel contributes to the wiki. Does this mean I can't write about it or link to it unless someone else does first? - GlitterBerri 13:55, 6 July 2012 (EDT)

The1andonlylink sockpuppet

There is a sockpuppet account that The1andonlylink has created. He has created the Link411 account that was an obvious sock. I've saw it in the recent changes log that he should be using only 1 account. Could you block those accounts for sockpuppeting please?--Brandondorf9999 08:04, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

New users often tend to create multiple accounts, but they neither of them really ever get used, so it's a somewhat common practice. The staff have taken notice, but creating multiple accounts isn't a justifiable reason to ban somebody. If the user happens to become active, the user will be given a choice between the two accounts, and the one not chosen will be banned. However, it's unlikely that the user will become active in the first place. - TonyT S C 09:09, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Zelda Universe Problem

A discussion is taking place at the Hyrule Castle to discuss a current issue with ZeldaUniverse.net. You can access it here. --Cuddles (Sit next door) 13:27, 11 July 2012 (EDT)

Thank you for informing us. However, it isn't necessary to alert us because we often check the Recent Changes, so we were already aware of the situation. Nonetheless, I have responded to the issue in Hyrule Castle. - TonyT S C 16:56, 11 July 2012 (EDT)

Template:ImageSelf

Why did you undo my edit to this page? You specified no reason. --Cuddles (Sit next door) 00:05, 19 July 2012 (EDT)

While adding information would not have been a problem, in the process you had also removed information (the note to use FileInfo and the category tag) and changed things that did not need to be changed. Rewording things just for the sake of it is generally frowned upon; conserving people's previous contributions to the wiki is an important part of Editing Etiquette. — Hylian King [*] 11:17, 24 July 2012 (EDT)

Road to Mountain Village

Thanks for that! Now the article is pretty much complete, as there isn't really anything else to add. I especially appreciate that you've added a reference for the Gossip Stone's text.

Keep up the good work! Kurtis C. 14:58, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

No problem. - TonyT S C 22:43, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Four Swords Manga

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why you redid my edits on the Four Sword manga page. I was trying to edit the page so it fit the manga (Which I have) better, and to correct spelling and grammar. What did I do that made the article worse? And I really am sorry for all of the saving, but our computer crashes often and I have lost many edits I did on the wiki because of this. I saved once I was done with each paragraph. Sorry to bug you but I didn't really understand... User:Darkness/sig 21:14, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

I only reverted one edit, and that was to put a comma back where it was. Apart from that, I just fixed typos and replaced links. - TonyT S C 06:47, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Wait... I thought I got rid of all the typos! In every paragraph! Or did my edits not count? Sorry... (And thanks for telling me. I thought you redid the whole page...) User:Darkness/sig 12:58, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
My spell-checker still caught some, so there must've been some that you missed. It's improbable that your edits didn't count, though. And no problem. - TonyT S C 13:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Odd, because I have a spell checker on my computer and it caught none, but I will stop arguing because it's just not worth it. Thank you so much! User:Darkness/sig 21:07, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
What do you mean by "replaced links"? User:Darkness/sig 21:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
It's a little something Pakkun does. People often use unnecessarily difficult ways to write links. He simplifies them to reduce clutter. Dekler 22:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
I didn't write any links... And thanks for answering my question, Dekler. Oh, and is there anything that should be added to this article? I rewrote some of it so it's not that bad anymore... User:Darkness/sig 01:36, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
We didn't say you did. I just go around on pages and replace things like:
''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]''
with
{{OoT}}
and other similar things. As for the article, I'm not sure; I haven't taken the time to look at it. I'm not sure how much I would be able to help, as I haven't read the FS manga. - TonyT S C 03:42, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry. And how do you put those bright blue boxes around your text? It's not working for me. (I can't sign my posts anymore, this post is by Darkness) Template:Nosig
You can just sign your posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~. And, I seem to recall having answered your question in regards to the blue boxes on another user's talk page, but you can either place a space before any text on a line, or you can place your text between the <pre> tags. - TonyT S C 17:37, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry! User:Darkness/sig 22:06, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
You don't need to apologize; I don't mind answering questions. :P - TonyT S C 02:24, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Featured article voting

Hey, so Mandi brought up a good point here about our Featured Article and Image voting systems. I personally would like to see a change, but that just won't happen if no one says anything or voices their opinion. I'm asking you to please voice your opinion on changing the system so we can move forwards with proposing actual changes and actually GET somewhere with this. Please and thank you!User:Justin/sig 04:31, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Fi

Pakkun, Fi is a "she." The game directly calls her "she," and there's refs on the page to support that. Why are you changing all the pronouns to "it?"User:Justin/sig 21:27, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

I consider the word of Aonuma more canonical than what very well may be a translation error. I agree that I don't think it has feminine organs, but I also doubt that Fi is of the female gender. Even though Fi's voice is feminine, its style of speech is still very neutral and robotic.
I think it's obvious that it was intended to be genderless, despite what's likely interpretation on the translator's part. It is definitely feminine, but you can program a robot to be so, yet it doesn't change the fact that it's a gender-neutral entity. (If it helps, think of Fi as a mannequin. No matter what wig or clothes you put on it or even what pose you put it in, it's still an object.)
It's been brought up that we consider Ghirahim to be male, but that I consider Fi to be genderless. However, my counter to this is that while they may be (it's only implied) to be the same species (Sword Spirit), I believe they're programmed differently and serve different functions. Ghirahim is prone to fits of rage, while Fi is cold and emotionless.
If they are indeed of the same so-called species, that doesn't mean they have to have binary attributes. Ghirahim can be created as a male with masculine body, organs and fallible emotions, which allow him to serve his duty as Demise's envoy.
On the other hand, Fi was created with a feminine-ish body (including vocal cords, but I believe it lacks the female organs to identify as having female sex), but it was created to be an intellectual resource to aid Link. Its purpose is to identify and assess key information. The only time it sings is when it's orating a message or performing a duty relevant to the task of singing. For this, I just consider it a necessary application "downloaded" into Fi's memory to accomplish these duties. Basically, it's just an incidentally necessary component for Fi to have feminine traits, including the voice, so that it may fill its role. And perhaps it is because of these traits, despite their intention, that Zelda refers to Fi as female.
In reality, I seriously doubt that Fi identifies as female in any manner. It's just as likely that Zelda treats Fi as female because she herself is human and fallible in her own right to the extent that she now shows a range of compassion that she lacked as a deity. As for other characters, including the narrative, it may be that they're simply ignorant to the fact that it was created as a walking memory receptacle and tour guide. It's also possible that they're just ignorant to the fact that binary genders don't necessarily exist. Even Scrapper could have just a sexual attraction to Fi (the Ancient Robots have some means of reproduction, as Skipper had children), in that he is only attracted to its production design and recognizes it as a female unit. - TonyT S C 00:37, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
I think that a "translation error" is out of the question when Fi is referred to as female by just about everything in the game. But you do make valid points, although I'm still not convinced. At this point, you should make a section on the talk page and see what everyone thinks. If the consensus is to use "it," then I'll concede. But until then, we should leave it as "she."User:Justin/sig 00:48, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
This discussion has been moved here. Please add any thoughts there. - TonyT S C 01:04, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Skype

Hello. I've been having the same problems with the Zelda Wiki Skype chat that I was having yesterday. The chat isn't appearing in my Recent Conversations, if I search it, it's not in my Contacts, and neither you nor Justin appear in my contacts. Even weirder, I changed my profile pic yesterday and it's been reverted. Do you have any idea what happened? User:Darkness/sig 15:44, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Skype can tend to be glitchy sometimes. If you're using the latest version, try downgrading a bit. I used to use Skype 4. something because it allowed you to have conversations open indefinitely and it was much more organized. Of course, there might just be problems with the Skype servers. It happens from time to time.User:Justin/sig 16:07, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
If it manages to appear in "Recent", you can right click it and designate the chat as one of your favorites. This will basically treat the entire conversation as one of your contacts, ensuring that it shows up. - TonyT S C 18:45, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

I accidentally just kicked myself from the chat. Can you please add me back? User:Darkness/sig 01:59, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Re: Recent Edits

I was just having an argument with myself. Sorry if it caused any problem with taking up space or anything, but I was not trying to be disruptive.....

--TripleTriforce 17:17, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

This behavior is getting to be unacceptable. Adding other users' signatures in a mock sort of a vandalism and claiming to be "arguing with yourself" is not only disruptive to other editors, but it is disruptive to the patrolling staff as well. I highly recommend you cease this behavior at once and start making productive edits.User:Justin/sig 19:20, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Hey Justin why not look at my recent contributions and think twice?

--TripleTriforce 14:52, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Let's try to not be spiteful. I don't think Justin worded it very well, but he just had meant that it's kinda a pain to go through and patrol all the edits of repeated material and that it's not really helping anyone to toy around like that. Thank you, though, for making the effort to go and make productive edits. :) - TonyT S C 19:21, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Huh. But Justin has no right to accuse me of engaging in bad behavior or the wiki!!!!!!!!

--TripleTriforce 22:23, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

P.S. I hope that didn't insult anyone.

Help...

Hey! I need help on my user page. I'm trying to add a picture of an ocarina, and I can't seem to get it on. Can you help me?Ankazar 00:44, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Of course! Firstly, I recommend that you read up on our image guide here, as that's really useful. It looks like you have it handled, but if you still need help, I'm happy to provide assistance. :) - TonyT S C 03:18, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
