Natzu Prairie is a location in Oracle of Seasons.[1] It is located in central Holodrum at the base of the northern mountains. Natzu Prairie is one of three possible variations depending on which Strange Flute Link has obtained, along with Natzu River and Natzu Wasteland. Link must traverse through the area if he befriends Ricky and obtains his Flute, who is necessary to navigate the Prairie's landscape. If Link obtains Dimitri's Flute or Moosh's Flute, then the area will instead become the Natzu River or Natzu Wasteland, respectively.

Features and Overview[]

Natzu Prairie is a stretch of land in central Holodrum that features grassy plateaus. It is surrounded by a small river that, along with the southern cliffs, isolates it from the rest of Holodrum. It lies directly north of North Horon and Holodrum Plain. The Prairie is connected by a crossroad to the west, which sits between Holodrum Plain and the Temple Remains. Natzu Prairie is initially barred off from entry, as the drawbridge crossing the river has been drawn. The bridge is lowered by a red Switch over the river, which can be reached by taking an alternate passage through Holodrum Plain once Link has obtained the Roc's Feather. Natzu Prairie can also be entered north of Blaino's Gym, however the way is blocked by a steep cliff that can only be cleared by Ricky's jumps. It is possible to reach the bridge's Switch earlier by taking this alternate route as soon as Link has befriended Ricky. The Prairie is stuck in perpetual Spring, as it lacks a Tree Stump to change the Seasons with.

Natzu Prairie is one of three possible variations of the area, which will change to accommodate the abilities of Link's chosen animal companion, whom Link is unable to navigate the area without. Natzu Prairie is the default landscape of the area, which Link must navigate with the help of Ricky if he has obtained his Flute. The Prairie features pitfalls and Bushes as part of its landscape, requiring Ricky's tornado punches and jumping ability to clear over them.

A cave housing a Fairy Fountain is located in the rockface of the Prairie's first hill. Another cave is found in the second hill, where inside a singing Deku Scrub will upgrade the capacity of Link's Seed Satchel. In a Linked Game, the Deku Scrub will give the upgrade after being told the Deku Secret. A third cave sits in a small strip of land over the Prairie's river, which can be entered from stairs leading into the water. A Treasure Chest inside containing 50 Rupees sits on the other end of a large gap, which can only be crossed via moving platforms.

The Praire ends at the Moblin's Keep to the east, where the Great Moblin threatens trespassers to pay his toll by blasting them with cannons.[2] Beyond the Keep is Sunken City, whereupon Ricky will leave Link as the City's smell is bothersome to him.[3]

Nomenclature[]

Natzu is derived from ナッツ (Nattsu), which is part of the Japanese name for Deku Scrubs, デクナッツ (Deku Nattsu). This may be in reference to the lone Deku Scrub who resides in one of the caves.
