Molgera is the Boss of the Wind Temple in The Wind Waker.[2] It is a giant sand worm with a wide mouth.

Characteristics[]

Molgera, Protector of the Seal (Figurine from The Wind Waker)

Molgera, Protector of the Seal
Habitat: Wind Temple
Effective Weapon: Hookshot

This evil guardian burrows deep into sand. Use the Hookshot to draw out its tender tongue, then slash at it with your blade.

When Molgera emerges from the sand, Link must be careful not to get too close to its gaping mouth, as he is slowly drawn toward it; otherwise, the monster might devour him and cause two Hearts worth of damage before regurgitating him. Link must target Molgera's tongue with the Hookshot so he can attack it with any weapon, including the Sword.

After enough damage is dealt, Molgera alters its attack strategy by releasing three of its larvae to distract and attack Link, which will inflict one Heart if struck. He can use the Hookshot to latch onto and dispatch them, rewarding him with Recovery Hearts. In addition, Link must look out for Molgera whenever the monster emerges from the sand and flies through the air, attempting to crush him when it dives back in.

Upon its vanquishment, Molgera painfully emerges and explodes into a shower of sand. This yields a Heart Container for Link as a reward and restores the Wind Temple's seal, allowing Makar to take up his role as the Wind Sage and restoring the second half of the Master Sword's lost power.

Like most other bosses in the game, Molgera is found again in Ganon's Tower later in the game. It must be defeated for a second time in the same fashion to break the seal to the door leading to Ganondorf.
