The Tektite (テクタイト, Tekutaito) is a one-eyed spider enemy that has appeared in every Zelda game except The Wind Waker. It comes in several varieties including Red, Orange, Blue, and Golden Tektites. They are usually found in mountainous areas such as Death Mountain and Mount Crenel. Tektites attack by jumping at Link. Certain varieties also posses the ability to walk on water. The Tektite is considered a "normal enemy", considering it only takes one or two sword swipes to defeat (depending on which sword/upgrades you have). Projectile weapons such as slingshot seeds or arrows work as well. The Hookshot or Longshot is somewhat effective. It does not defeat the Tektite, but it does paralyze it for a brief moment, which is helpful because of the Tektite's movements, it can be quite annoying. Being that Tektites have appeared in almost every Zelda game, it is important to note that their attack pattern has hardly changed at all since they were first introduced. Physically, Tektites have seen drastic differences over very many games, but attack wise, they remain the same. The name "Tektite" is also another name for a spider[citation needed], hence the Tektite's spider-like appearance.
Varieties
Red Tektite
The Red Tektite can be found mostly on land. They are opposite to Blue Tektites but always aim to use the same strategy in battle. They maneuver on ground rather cunningly, but a few slashes of the sword should easily kill these critters.
Orange Tektite
The Orange Tektite appears in the Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. While the attributes of the orange tektite are identical to those of the red tektite it just a color alteration that makes them different. While some might be tempted to consider these creates as actual red tektites, the color distinction is clear when comparing other red and orange enemies in the titles.
Blue Tektite
The Blue Tektite is a variety of Tektite which can be found in several games in the The Legend of Zelda series. It will follow after Link, bouncing, until it reaches him and does relatively small amounts of damage. They can walk on water and can jump down areas of considerable heights, which makes areas like Lake Hylia and the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time perfect habitats for them. They are quite simple to kill; two blows with the sword or one shot from the Bow and Arrow will get rid of one in no time at all.

The debut Zelda title also marked the debut of this common Zelda enemy. The original instructions booklet describes this jumpy creature as being a "spidery thing".[1] Tektites appear exclusively within the overworld of the game, and often times travel within groups of 4 or 5. There are tektites that appear to be blue and orange, however the tips and tactics expanded instruction manual refers to the colors as being blue and red.[2]. The two types of tektites act nearly identical except that red tektites can jump further.
The Minish Cap
In the Minish Cap, the red tektites have a casual jump frequently if they see you or not. The Blue Tektites jump much more frequently than the normal tektites; they jump about three or four times.

"Appears on Mount Crenel, etc. They move by jumping long distances. Their movement can be unpredictable so attack them when they are still."
The Golden Tektite appears only in The Minish Cap. It is a monster which looks like a normal Tektite, but the Golden Tektite is much tougher and is also gold-colored. It will only appear as the result of a Kinstone Fusion. If Link defeats the beast, it will drop a large rupee.

Twilight Princess
In Twilight Princess, they are found mainly in the Lakebed Temple in certain rooms, and in one room in the Goron Mines, though later, they can be found in various parts of Hyrule. They are able to be killed with a few slashes of Link's sword.
Trivia
- In Ocarina of Time, the Megaton Hammer can flip Tektites on their backs.
- In Majora's Mask, Goron Link's ground pound will flip Tektites onto their backs.
