Mini Death Bugs are enemies in Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.[name reference needed] smaller versions of the Death Bug boss and are found primarily in the Insect Cavern of Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. They are beetles driven with a wild desire for Rupees.

Purple Mini Death Bug[]
Purple Mini Death Bugs are the most common variety of this creature, and are found throughout the Insect Cavern and also in the Pirate Ship later in the game. They simply charge at Tingle to attack, and are quite strong. Tingle will require a Bodyguard if he wishes to defeat them in one go. They commonly appear in pairs, but are also found emerging from various eggs found throughout the Insect Cavern. They appear to be smaller versions of the Ultra Death Bug.
Yellow Mini Death Bug[]
The yellow variety appear to be smaller versions of the original Death Bug and are exceptionally strong. They have a particular craving for Rupees above all else. If Tingle places Rupees on a switch, these insects will ignore him and instead home in on the gems to collect them all. He can use this weakness to distract them from attacking him, or even use it to cause them to press down switches while they consume as many Rupees as they can.
Blue Mini Death Bug[]
The blue variety appear deeper in the Insect Cavern. They emerge from the ground suddenly, and pounce at Tingle, stealing Rupees directly from him before fleeing from him. Tingle will have to chase them down to retrieve the stolen Rupees.

- The Japanese name for these monsters plays on the fact that "Kogane", meaning beetle, also means "gold".
