Image Requests

This is where any requests of images that need fixing goes. If you see any images that look like they could be fixed or rendered from a colored background here at the wiki or at another site, let me know and I will see what I can do.User:Steven/sig

I gave that Faron image a shot. I could only get one ray to look right. You could try again. Putting a black-filled layer behind it while working helps out a lot. Using the smudge tool makes the rays stand out more.User:Matt/sig 14:52, November 23, 2008 (UTC)

Sure I'll try that. I hadn't thought about using the smudge tool before, but that might actually work.User:Steven/sig 14:54, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I hate to ask this of you, seeing as you just edited these images, but that Dimitri and Moosh image you recently added (and maybe you added a Ricky I didn't spot)...could you possibly edit Link out of those images, like Link was edited out of the Felicia image? I just feel that they will look better if you can do that.

Thanks in advance :) --Felicia's Champion 11:10, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'll give it a whirl.User:Steven/sig 21:14, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Mission accomplished! I think I'll start working on all of the Oracle images, as they are under similar circumstances.User:Steven/sig 22:34, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. Good luck with that :) --Felicia's Champion 22:42, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

We need a transparent pic of the Nintendo DS Lite logo. I tried and didn't have much success. A good based image can be found here.User:Matt/sig 22:24, December 22, 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I'll do that, didn't Mel upload one for the userbox though?User:Steven/sig 12:38, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, yes. But it wasn't quite like that. I now direct you to the very end of this.User:Matt/sig 13:15, December 23, 2008 (UTC)
This sandbox is nearly abandoned. That would be a good place to test it out in.User:Matt/sig 14:21, December 23, 2008 (UTC)

Ahoy there! Any chance you could work your magic on this image? Not sure if it's easier to sharpen up the original version, or fix the outline on the new version I uploaded (probably the latter). Cheers! User:Adam/sig 08:10, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Excellent job, as always! User:Adam/sig 14:03, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey Steve, did you have those LoZ images to upload? The artwork for the items. You said you were waiting to finish them so you can upload them in bulk. There was only I think 6-7 images. Was wondering what the status is with those. Thanks! Mases 21:22, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Steve, can you update me on the status here? Mases 07:08, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Skype

We have a Zelda Wiki chat set up on Skype. You're already in the group.User:Matt/sig 21:00, November 25, 2008 (UTC)

Alright cool, I'll join in a sec. User:Steven/sig 21:01, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Absence

Yeah, I know I've been gone awhile, I lost the power on Friday and just got it back, so I'm going to start back on my images now then. User:Steven/sig 18:10, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

You mean that you have been without power for a few days? That had to suck!User:Matt/sig 18:55, December 15, 2008 (UTC)
Yeah it was crazy, we hooked up a generator so we at lest had water and heat.User:Steven/sig 18:59, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Twilight Sword

How did you create the Twilight Sword picture? It's amazing! I've never seen anything like it! Your pictures are amazing!--Link hero of light 01:14, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

It was a part of a Zelda weapons pack for Warcraft, and I just removed from one of the screenshots, though the twilight markings were white, so I traced them with red, as it's supposed to. There's actually a good Master Sword and double Clawshot as well that I might use.User:Steven/sig 14:28, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Help with GIMP

I need a little help with GIMP. Can you tell me how make text curve into an arch? I need it for a project I'm working on at ZU.User:Matt/sig 19:52, December 21, 2008 (UTC)

First, you'll need to use the path tool in the shape of you want (in this case an arch). Once that's done make a text box and type your desired text and then click the "text to path button". This will create a path out of your text and in the shape of the one you made before. After that, just switch to the paths tool, click on your text path and use the "path to selection" button and fill it with whatever color you want.User:Steven/sig 20:45, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
I figured that it was something like that. I was just missing one important step. The sig shop is Matt's Signature Shop. Feel free to comment on it over there!User:Matt/sig 21:16, December 21, 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations

Congratulations on becoming a sysop! You really deserved the position. Who made you sysop?--Link hero of light 03:53, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

That'd be me. Under the the direct orders of Mases. The staff agreed to recruit Steve here. Jason seemed to be under the impression that he already was a sysop!User:Matt/sig 03:58, January 5, 2009 (UTC)
dude radical you're a sysop *high-five*
Congrats. :D User:Ando/sig 05:44, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Pictures

Can you make the backround of these pictures match the background of ZW.org?

--Link hero of light 00:37, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Large images

Hi there, I just noticed the changes you made to your Fyrus and Death Sword images; they look great with the background colour included! However, the file size really shot through the roof, particularly bearing in mind that the Fyrus image is already featured on the Main Page regularly. Is there any way to create a version with reduced file size, maybe even reducing the dimensions if necessary? I wouldn't ask if it weren't on the Main Page, but I'm just a little concerned that it could cause performance issues for those still on slower connections... User:Adam/sig 08:57, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Absolutely, I can take care of that pronto.User:Steven/sig 14:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for that User:Adam/sig 14:38, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Userbox Question

I have a question about one of your userbox things. I have several on my page, but I want to put the one up with how many edits I have made. I couldn't find it on the help page. Can you help? Thanks! :) DisappearingMist 20:12, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm not Steven. But, here it is User Edit. Just make sure you enter your username correctly in it.User:Matt/sig 20:23, January 19, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! :) DisappearingMist 06:15, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Question

I noticed that you deleted one of the images I put up, and put down "Superseded: Look before uploading! Thank you". How am I supposed to find if an image already exists? (sorry, I'm still kind new here!) —Alter 22:04, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

The easiest way is to search, then scroll down to advanced search, and deselect everything except for "Images". Then type what you're checking, say "Tingle", and all images with "Tingle" in their name will show up, so there's no confusion.User:Steven/sig 22:17, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks! —Alter 22:34, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Or even easier, go here, type what you're looking for in the box, hit search ;) User:Adam/sig 22:50, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Welcome messages

Hi (or hello?)

Just a quick note on welcoming new users to the wiki; I've noticed that recently you've used either the wrong template or incorrect formatting to do this. The correct (and only) way we should be using the welcome templates is:

{{subst:hi|<yourusernamehere>}}

I've noticed a lot of variations on this, mainly either forgetting to "subst" or using the Hello tempalte directly, but neither are correct. The subst is necessary as it places the entire paragraph of text in the user's talk page (a lot clearer and easier to understand/respond to for a new or inexperienced user). Using the Hello template is not appropriate as it misses off the section header; also, why would you want to type something longer than necessary? ;) Please don't think I'm nagging for the sake of it, I just think that with so few of us actually doing the welcoming, it'd be nice to get some consistency going. Thanks! User:Adam/sig 07:11, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I might also add that you should change the edit summary to say Welcome. That makes it look more professional.User:Matt/sig 08:22, February 6, 2009 (UTC)

the main page needs an update cause of the new zelda game.

you know you forgot about updating the zelda news about the legend of zelda spirt tracks. user dwanstephen.

Changes

Let's cut to the chase- Why'd you change my nav? Was something wrong with it? Alter  {T C B H } 23:57, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

I came back and saw that in the Recent Changes, that's not good, I know I didn't do that.User:Steven/sig 00:02, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
That's odd. It says: (diff) (hist) . . m User:Alter/nav‎; 15:18 . . (-10) . . Steven (Talk | contribs) (Reverted edits by Alter (Talk) to last version by Matt). I guess I'll just undo that, then. Alter  {T C B H } 00:06, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Either my brother screwed around on my computer while I was gone (likely), or someone got access to my account, but sure go right ahead..User:Steven/sig 00:10, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks. No harm done. I just wasn't sure if I'd done something wrong or what. lol Later. Alter  {T C B H } 00:15, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Happy Birthday

Hey man, I hope you have a great birthday! Peace. Alter  {T C B H } 12:47, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. ^_^ User:Steven/sig 14:32, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Um, Alter said. Now you are old... er.User:Matt/sig 15:07, May 3, 2009 (UTC)
Happy birthday ;) User:Mandi/sig 17:02, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

GIMP Question

Since you seem to be quite advanced when it comes to using GIMp, I was hoping that you could answer a question of mine; How do i add a transparent background to an image? Thanks. Alter  {T C B H } 22:51, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

It's not an easy task, especially for something that isn't a one-color background. I use the Paths Tool, it's like a connect the dots tool (it looks lie an ink pen on the toolbar). I always keep the path set to 'polygonal', make the dots around, and then switch from 'design' to 'edit' and uncheck 'polygonal' and make curves where they are needed.User:Steven/sig 20:07, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! I really appreciate it! Alter  {T C B H } 20:41, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Image Requests

We got a new page/project happening. Zelda Wiki.org:Image Requests. I added you at the top, assuming you'd want to help out. :P If so, remember to watchlist it. User:Melchizedek/sig 07:46, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Sacred Realm

Hey Steven, I have a small issue that has been brought up by another admin, Adam, that I am hoping perhaps you can help resolve: I have recently been doing a rewrite of the Sacred Realm page b/c I noticed it had a tag for needing improvement. I was in the middle of rewriting it when I had to leave my computer for the day yesterday and decided I'd be back today to finish editing what I'd written and removing anything that I felt wasn't necessary at the end. I also noticed comments made about it to that effect overnight by Dany and hadn't yet gotten to respond that I agreed with what he was saying. By the time I got back to the page, Adam had locked the page and cited an imaginary edit war as his justification for locking the page and reverting all work I'd already done to the page. I tried to explain to him that I was not done with work to the page yet and that I agreed with what Dany had been saying, but he refused to remove the lock on the page so I could return to working on it. He gave me no opportunity to make known my agreement with Dany nor did he give me a chance to finish up work on the article. There was no edit war here and there really wasn't any disagreement, so I see no reason for a lock on the page. If you could unlock the page for me, I'd like to return to work on it, along with anyone else interested in helping me rewrite it. I think Dany was looking over it too, so I'm sure he'd be a help in improving it too. But we need Adam's lock removed from the page, so if you could do that it'd be very much appreciated.
