[[File:File:Magicarmortww Artwork.png.png|20x20px]] [[|]] The Magic Armor is a special barrier in the form of magic or a tunic that negates any damage Link receives from enemies during battle.

Appearances

The Wind Waker

See also: Island Trading Sequence

In The Wind Waker, the Magic Armor appears as jewel or crystal, which resembles the three spells from Ocarina of Time. It is an optional item in the game that can be obtained after completing the Island Trading Sequence.

When activated, a magical barrier will cover Link protecting him from any damage, similar to Nayru's Love. The Magic Armor slowly drains Link's Magic Meter while active. In The Wind Waker HD, it consumes Rupees when Link is hit. The Magic Armor will stop working once Link's Magic Meter is depleted or he runs out of Rupees. Link can activate the shield while sailing for protection from attacks during sea battles.[1]

Twilight Princess

The Magic Armor in Twilight Princess serves the same purpose as in The Wind Waker, but with the lack of a Magic Meter, the Magic Armor drains Rupees for evey second it is equipped, or 12 Rupees when attacked. Once Link runs out of Rupees, the armor loses its color and becomes very heavy, causing Link to move as if equipped with the Iron Boots, having the same effect of sinking in water.[2]

If Link has the Magic Armor equipped and no Rupees, he will be unable to ride Epona. If Link runs out of Rupees while riding Epona, he will be sent flying off her.

The quest for the Magic Armor can be started after completing the Lakebed Temple, and is completely optional.

Upon visiting Kakariko Village, Link will find that the Gorons wish to sell their spring water in Hyrule Castle Town. Gor Ebizo is raising funds in Malo Mart in order to repair a bridge in western Hyrule Field, and with the help of Malo himself, wants to put to an end the difficult economic situation in Castle Town by purchasing the most luxurious and expensive shop to replace it with one having reasonably-priced products. He needs a total donation of 1,000 Rupees, which Link can provide through various partial donations (unless he can donate that amount at once). After the donation, Link must talk to Gor Liggs, who is outside Malo Mart, who will request that the young hero go to western Hyrule Field to see to the progression of the bridge's repair.

Link will find that the bridge is now repaired, but the Goron who fixed it, Gor Liggs' son, becomes critically fatigued, and therefore cannot move in order to import Hot Spring Water to the town. After speaking to him, Link will need to return to Kakariko Village, where Gor Liggs will give him a barrel of Hot Spring Water to revitalize the fatigued Goron. Link must then cross the western field with the barrel, but numerous enemies, including Leevers and Bulblins, will be there to hinder his progression; if Link is attacked, the barrel will burst, prompting the young hero return to Kakariko Village for another. Once he reaches the bridge, he can throw the barrel onto the Goron, who will quickly regain his strength and energetically begin importing the Hot Spring Water to Castle Town, leaving a Heart Piece in the process.

Buying the magic armor

Afterwards, Link must go back to Malo Mart in Kakariko Village to find that another monetary collection has been initiated; this time to buy out Chudley’s Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium. Fortunately, a mere 200 Rupees are required (this is because, thanks to the export of Hot Spring Water, both Malo and Gor Ebizo received a grand donation and are reserving it for the shop purchase. Had Link ignored aiding Gor Liggs' son, the money he would have needed would have been 2,000 Rupees). After donating the remaining Rupees, the Emporium will be purchased. The young hero is now able to go to Castle Town to find a branch of Malo Mart where the Emporium used to be. Inside, he can find various goods at reasonable prices, including the Magic Armor for 598 Rupees.

Trivia

  • In The Wind Waker, when Link is wearing the Hero's New Clothes during the Second Quest, the Magic Armor, when equipped, will still show the outline of Link's hat even though he cannot be seen wearing it.[3]
  • The Magic Armor in The Wind Waker resembles the three spells received from the Great Fairies in Ocarina of Time, as all four objects have the same basic appearance, a sphere inside a transparent diamond. In terms of function, the Magic Armor behaves nearly identically to Nayru's Love.
  • In Twilight Princess, the cost of the armor will vary depending on the wallet Link is carrying. The armor in itself will cost 598 Rupees; however, if Link receives the Giant Wallet upgrade from Agitha, the armor will cost 998, just under what he can currently carry.
