Knight's Shields are mid-tier Shields once favored by the Knights of Hyrule who guarded the Royal Family of Hyrule.[1] They belong to the Knight's Gear equipment archetype, a series of Weapons manufactured for Knights.[2] They boast a great defense and Durability, comparable to that of even the strongest Enemy Shields. Though their metal construction makes them Durable, their weight makes it so they require more skill to wield.[1]

They can be found around the northern half of Hyrule Kingdom, wielded by Enemies in the Hebra Mountains and Eldin Mountains. There are a few notable exceptions, however, including a Treasure Chest in Gerudo Canyon Pass. Another Treasure Chest is located near Aquame Bridge leading to the Coliseum Ruins. It can be obtained as a reward from Selmie for completing the Shield-Surfing Mini-Game with a time between 1:45 and 2:00.[3] Finally, Russ sells a Knight's Shield on Trilby Plain for 300 Rupees.[4] If Link buys it from him, he will call it a sturdy Shield, which reminds him of the rumored Durability of the Hylian Shield.[5]

The following amiibos have a chance to spawn a Treasure Chest containing a Knight's Shield when they are scanned with the amiibo Rune:

Being made of metal, Knight's Shields conduct Electricity and will attract Lightning if equipped during a Thunderstorm. In addition, they sink if they are dropped in Water, and will burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate. Finally, Knight's Shields can be picked up and manipulated with the Magnesis Rune on the Sheikah Slate.

Tears of the Kingdom[]

Knight's Shields reappear in Tears of the Kingdom. They have the same strength from Breath of the Wild and they can occasionally be found in treasure chests left behind by Shock Likes.

Other Apeparances[]

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]

Knight's Shields can be wielded by Link in conjunction with Knight's Broadswords.

Everyone in the surfing scene covets that bad boy. It's clearly comissioned by the royal family or something'! Its sturdiness makes it perfect for shield surfing too! You don't really see 'em around these days...but rumor has it there's one in Hyrule Castle. Though no one has ever gone there and returned in one piece..." — Russ (Breath of the Wild)
