About

The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition is a free promotional disk which was originally given out to Nintendo Power members with 5 or more registered games at Nintendo.com. The disk also comes free with a new purchase of a Nintendo GameCube, a renewal to Nintendo Power or from purchasing a subscription to the magazine. This game even has its own Player's Guide, which is rare for a promotional game. Despite the fact that all the games were not originally created for the GameCube, all four games have been specially modified to be played on the GameCube with their original graphics. It is also the first time that Majora's Mask has been re-released in the United States, with the second time being in May 2009 with the Virtual Console version of Majora's Mask. This collection of games is most likely to be coveted by many of the hardcore Zelda fans, as well as the new gamers. It brings back four of the most popular Zelda games in all their glory. Link's very first quest, his second quest, the first time he went 3D and the journey through Termina are all included.

It was also released in Europe, there were several ways to obtain the disc: The game was initially bundled in a limited edition Mario Kart: Double Dash!! GameCube package. Nintendo later made the title available to GameCube owners who mailed them proof of purchase of certain first party GameCube titles. Eventually the disc could even be purchased from the Nintendo of Europe website in their stars catalogue (a scheme that offers items in return for 'stars' collected in leaflets with all Nintendo games) for 4500 stars.

Problems

Although the game mentions "sound irregularities" on the disc as a result of porting Majora's Mask to the GCN, no mention was made of another widespread issue. It seems to be common for the game to freeze play without warning.
