Kanalet Castle is a mini-dungeon in Link's Awakening.[1][2] It is located near the center of Koholint Island.

Features and Overview[]

Kanalet Castle was once owned by Prince Richard, but rebellious servants kicked him out; now Prince Richard is only interested in retrieving the Golden Leaves he left behind.[3] Prince Richard gets Link to acquire these Golden Leaves by defeating monsters and solving puzzles. However, the front gate of Kanalet Castle is up and thus impassable. Link must give Bananas to Kiki to make a bridge across the moat. He can then enter via an underground passage under the castle walls. Once within Kanalet Castle, Link can press a Floor Switch to open the gate, allowing an easy escape and access if he wishes to return.[4] In order to get each Golden Leaf, Link must battle a Mad Bomber to claim the first leaf, and next, Link must scare a Crow outside of the castle in order to defeat it and claim the second leaf. For the third of them, Link must enter Kanalet Castle and do battle with two Darknuts and a Zol. After they are defeated, Link can go and use a bomb to destroy a cracked wall, revealing a Darknut that has the fourth leaf. The Boss of this mini-dungeon is a Ball and Chain Soldier, who battles with Link for the final Golden Leaf.

In the southwest corner of Kanalet Castle's moat, Link can dive and find a Piece of Heart.
