Template:Character The Bean Seller[1] is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.

Biography

The Bean Seller is a man who constantly feasts on his bag of delicious delights. In Template:OOT, he is the only seller of rare Magic Beans, which grow into magic leaves and are able to carry Link to otherwise inaccessible areas. He can be found sitting beside the Zora's River. His Magic Beans aren't very popular at first,[2] and are relatively cheap, but each time Link buys a pod of the colorful beans the price for the next pod jumps by 10 Rupees,[3] and the Bean Seller's notions about their popularity changes gradually until he calls them "legendary".[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Eventually, due to Link's patronage, he believes they're so popular that he won't part with them for under 100 Rupees (and laughs maniacally when he tells Link so), and after that they're sold out (the beans he's chomping on aren't for sale).[11][12]

He makes another appearance in Majora's Mask, where he hides in secrecy in a grotto within the Deku Palace.[1] Unlike his Ocarina of Time counterpart, his Beans sell for the same 10 Rupees no matter how many Link buys. The first pod is free.[13] Apparently, he doesn't get much business.[14]

It is also possible to purchase Magic Beans from a Business Scrub in Southern Swamp for the same price.[15] He has his business just outside the Swamp Tourist Center, although he wanted to set up shop at the Deku Palace.[16]

The bean seller has 豆 (bean) tattooed on his arm.
