The Iron Shield is a recurring Item in The Legend of Zelda series.[3]
Appearances[]
Oracle of Seasons[]
In Oracle of Seasons, the Iron Shield can be earned by offering the Subrosian Smithy a piece of Hard Ore and a Wooden Shield. Link can also obtain the shield via a Secret in a Linked Game.
The Iron Shield defends Link against some attacks that the Wooden Shield cannot, but not as many as the Mirror Shield, the most powerful shield in the game.
Oracle of Ages[]
In Oracle of Ages, the Iron Shield can be obtained on Crescent Island after the Tokay steals Link's Items when he first arrives on their island. Link must regain his arsenal one-by-one by speaking with each Tokay individually. One Tokay thief can be found in a cavern on the south edge of the island, which can only be reached by swimming with the Mermaid Suit. Instead of returning the Wooden Shield that Link originally lost, this Tokay will instead return an upgraded Iron Shield. If the Iron Shield is ever eaten by a Like Like, a new one can be bought from any shop for 50 Rupees.
When not playing a Linked Game, the Iron Shield is the best Shield that is possible to obtain. When playing a Linked Game, the more powerful Mirror Shield can be obtained.
Skyward Sword[]
In Skyward Sword, the Iron Shield bears two symbols that resemble footprints, possibly those of a Loftwing. It can be bought from the Gear Shop at the Skyloft Bazaar for 100 Rupees after the Skyview Temple is completed.[4][1] Compared to the Wooden Shield, the Iron Shield is more durable and does not burn when it comes in contact with Fire.[5][6] However, when it comes into contact with Electricity it can conduct it well and will shock Link.[7][6] This can be negated if Link performs a Shield Bash just as the Electricity connects. It can be upgraded by Gondo to increase its durability.[8] The Iron Shield is superseded by the Sacred Shield, which repels Fire, Electricity and Curse attacks.
