Hokboks are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They resemble fuzzy, upright caterpillars, consisting of three spherical orange segments that make up their bodies, and a fourth orange ball with a Jack-O-Lantern-like face creating a head. Their attack method is to bounce into Link. When hit with a sword, the bottommost segment is knocked loose from the body, and it ricochets around the room.

Hokboks are found in Turtle Rock. The fewer segments they have left, the faster they move. They are usually found in small or narrow rooms where, if attacked, their rebounding body segments will be harder to avoid.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

A Hokbok appears in the Desert Palace. In order to reveal its lower body segments, Link must use the Sand Rod to pull it out of the ground. After taking a few hits, the Hokbok will retreat back into the sand.
