On rare occasions, in a work of fiction, there are certain inconsistencies in regards of some events, design or the placement of some characters or elements in a particular place. In popular culture, these inconsistencies are known as '''goofs''' or '''mistakes'''. Though infrequently, some mistakes have been present in [[The Legend of Zelda (Series)|''The Legend of Zelda'' series]], although these details are hardly a detriment for the development of the plot or realism. Some types of mistakes may include:

Hi, Jeangabin. I'm asking for help. I created a category: It's [[:Category:Racing games|Racing games]]. It's supposed to be a subcategory of minigames where one lists the articles about races, but said articles have the [[:Template:Minigame|Minigame template]] already, and it places them in the Minigames category, which leads to redundancy. So I tried to update the template so that adding '''<nowiki>|type = racing</nowiki>''' would put the pages about races into the new category, rather than the MG category. It's not working well: Now [[Beaver Falls Race]] has both categories in it, and part of the source code I added is blatantly shown in the page, and I have no idea on how to hide that. Seeing your experience on making templates, can you help me here, please? --[[User:K2L|K2L]] 13:32, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
*The game shows numerous translation errors in the original NES version, such as [[Ganon]] being spelled '''Gannon'''. See [[The Legend of Zelda (Game)#Mistranslations|here]] for a complete list.

== Enemy templates, awesome job! ==
==''A Link to the Past''==

  +
I've seen your work on the enemy navigation templates, and I'm compelled to tell you it's unbelievably awesome! They are much more organized and thorough than I ever imagined. I'm glad you finally started creating those instead of the large "See Also" additions. It's easier, cleaner, more consistent, and less disputed to do these. From a casual browsing in the category, I think you may have covered most of the enemies by now. I read the Like Like dispute and suggested to others via skype that some enemies fit into multiple groups. From a sheer article appearance perspective, you guys should consider limiting an entry to the 3 best fits. Mainly to have them centered at the foot of an article instead of stacked. Consider the case of [[Twinrova]], she's in a Humanoid/Sorcerer grouping, but her embodiment of the fire and ice elements may warrant inclusion in those as well. Bear in mind that I don't say that merely because of her attacks with those elements, but because of her apparent physical form includes them.
*On the eastern side of [[Death Mountain]] in the [[Light World]], what appears to be the lowest cave entrance actually leads to the second floor of the cave network within, while an entrance on an apparent higher level leads to a lower section of the cave.

*Prior to the final boss, [[Ganon]] leaves [[Agahnim]]'s body and flies towards the [[Pyramid of Power]]. Link then successfully calls the [[Duck]] to pick him up and give chase, which shouldn't have worked, as he was currently in the [[Dark World]], and the duck is only accessible from the [[Light World]].

  +
Lastly, I think you could branch out of enemy navigation templates and into some of the other cross references you worked on. The ideal candidate for them are things that would be too silly or small as a category and too large or disconnected for ''see alsos''. One of the groups you worked on were teachers if I recall correctly, some other possibilities would be the farmers, bomb shopkeepers, potion shopkeepers, or any other reoccurring professions, maybe even similar themed dungeons using the sage medallion or anything else symbolic of the attribute.
==''Link's Awakening''==

*Before she temporarily joins Link to awake the sleeping [[Walrus]], [[Marin]] says she will wish to the [[Wind Fish]] to become a seagull and fly in the sky. However, talking to her after all of her storyline appearances will reveal that her wish ''is secret'', even though she told it to Link earlier. Also, it couldn't possibly be a different wish that she is keeping secret, as said wish is shown to come true in the perfect ending.

Hi Jeangabin! Thanks for all the edits you've been doing, especially in regards to the wiki's continuity. It can be tedious to go through fixing links, but you do a great job of it. I do have one suggestion though: I've noticed that you sometimes do multiple edits to one page in a row. I know that it's easy to see something you want to add or change after you've saved; everyone does! But if you use the time when you press "Show Preview," not only to check the work you did (spelling errors, alignment, etc), but also to examine the '''rest of the article''', you can continue to add things as you go until it's perfect and ''then'' you can press "Save." Doing so keeps the saves to a minimum and keeps the [[Special:RecentChanges|Recent Changes]] page clean and tidy! =) Try it out and see how you like it! Keep up the great work!! {{:User:Embyr 75/sig}} 13:19, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
*In [[Romani Ranch]], the entrance wooden arch says in Japanese (and written in Hylian) "Welcome to Kakariko Village". The reason for this is that the game reuses several elements from ''Ocarina of Time'', and the developers forgot to properly change the lead text of the arch.

Hi Jeangabin, sorry for the misunderstanding earlier in regards to the [[Snapper]] page. I was under the impression that nothing should come before the infobox, including the "You may be looking for" sentences (see [[Ikana Kingdom]]). Upon further inspection I found that there is some discord. However, I don't believe keeping it on one line is the issue, because the [[Princess Ruto]] page line comes before the infobox but is still on two lines (as rendered by my screen resolution). *When Link arrives on the [[Moon (Object)|Moon]] (which only occurs between 12:00 am and 5:59 am in the [[Final Day]]) and checks his [[Bombers' Notebook]], he will notice the flat blue line indicating that it's supposedly 6:00am (in the same day), earlier than the time of arrival. The only possible explanation for this is that the Notebook tries to indicate that it's 6:00am in the [[New Day]], except this day is not included in the aforementioned logbook recorder.

== Regarding a few of your images in the Background Removal (Transparency) section of the Image Requests page ==
==''Four Swords''==

  +
A few images you've uploaded need the backgrounds removed. That's fine and dandy and an easy enough task, but some of them are in jpg format. jpg files don't support transparency. It seems I can't use a different format when uploading a newer version, so the backgrounds for the jpg files cannot be removed. To support transparency, images should be in the png or gif format. (png is usually preferred because it supports a greater range of colours and supports translucency as well as transparency.) --[[User:Nosh|Nosh]] 08:26, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

:::Paint. [[User:Jeangabin|Jeangabin]] 09:00, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

::::Ah. That would do it. Paint doesn't support any form of transparency. If you're ambitious, you may want to try your hand at learning to use [http://www.gimp.org GIMP]. It's a bit more advanced than Paint, and it has support for transparency. It's a bit different in how it's laid out though, so it can be tough to get the hang of. For a free image editor, it's decent. [http://getpaint.net Paint.net] is also supposed to be quite good, though I haven't used it myself. Of course, if you'd rather not take the time to learn to use a new program, it's very little trouble for me to continue removing backgrounds for you, and I'd be fine with doing so. --[[User:Nosh|Nosh]] 10:33, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

==Merge Discussions==

Jeangabin, even if a merger seems logical, there must always, always, always be discussion about it before it happens. I'm sorry that you did so much work to the Anju's Grandmother page for the merger, but there was no discussion for it! What if some of the community disagrees with the merge? What if it's not the best for the content? By jumping in and doing it in haste, you cut out any opinions that may be had by the community and only work from your own! I hate to see so much work go down the drain, but it can all be avoided if there is just some discussion next time! ;) {{:User:Cipriano 119/sig}} 11:11, 17 August 2010 (EDT)

It may seem urgent to us editors, however to readers/non-editors that visit the wiki, a merge may not even seem necessary, apparent, or even appropriate. All in all, though it seems like it may take forever to amass opinions, it must be done to get an accurate assessment of the practicality of the merge. Hi, Jeangabin! I have a question about [[Sahasrahla's Grandson|this]] article which you created. It has been brought to our attention that some portions of the article are similar to the article found on [http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Sahasrahla's_Grandson Zeldapedia.] This coincides with several other new articles you've created, which have also had numerous similarities. Some have even had sentences copied word for word. Now, I'd like to ask you fairly: have you been copying, paraphrasing, or referencing their articles when creating ones on Zelda Wiki? Please give us an honest, straight answer.{{:User:Justin/sig}} 00:43, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

:In no way, this comes mainly from the characters lists found here on ZW. [[User:Jeangabin|Jeangabin]] 08:15, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

While we truely want to believe you, there is evidence suggesting you copied from us, such as this revision

"''Despite supporting Vaati, they are not harmful enough to be considered enemies. {Despite the fact that the Mages are followers of Vaati, they aid Link many times throughout the stages. One Mage gives Link a Moon Pearl needed to open a Moon Gate. Another gives him the Magic Book to give to another Mage, Iris. One Mage claims he created the Bombos and Quake Medallions and allows Link to use a Quake Medallion.}''
*Usually, when Link feeds a [[Fishman]] swimming near an island, it will be marked in the [[Sea Chart]] as visited, and then the Fishman gives information about the island or something else; and when the same fish is fed again, he complains about Link's tendency to always give the same type of [[All-Purpose Bait]]. A mistake related to this happens in [[Outset Island]], [[Forsaken Fortress]], [[Windfall Island]] and [[Dragon Roost Island]]. The first three islands are already marked in the Sea Chart from the beginning of the game, and Dragon Roost Island is marked by the local Fishman for free (without having to feed him). In the four cases, however, when Link attracts the Fishmen of those islands with the bait for the first time, they will argue that he already fed them with the same bait, thus complaining in the same way a Fishman fed twice does.

  +
This is almost direct text, fully, in some cases, to that of Zeldapedia's [http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Mages Mage] article. It is even more interesting because you repeat the same sentence twice, "''Despite supporting Vaati, they are not harmful enough to be considered enemies. {Despite the fact that the Mages are followers of Vaati, they aid Link many times throughout the stages''", One of them being the same text from Zeldapedia, and it seems that you deleted the old sentence after paraphrasing the original. In other words, this catches you in the act of copying from there, so if you are prepared to deny it once more, I have nothing further to address.{{:User:Steven/sig}} 09:10, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
*When learning the [[Spin Attack#Great Spin Attack|Hurricane Spin]] from [[Orca]], the old man drops his spear and begins to cry once Link successfully performs it for the first time. In the very next shot, however, the spear is back in Orca's hand, before he even wipes away his tears.

*When Link collapses after defeating Ganondorf, Zelda comes in from his right and catches him, and remains there when the King of Hyrule appears. The camera then cuts to the king, and in the next shot of Link and Zelda, the two have switched sides with each other, with Zelda standing on Link's left. Also, Link's shield disappears entirely during this scene with no explanation, only reappearing after the credits roll.

*The [[Ancient Robot]]s are named with model numbers, starting with the LD- abbreviation. LD stands for '''[[Lanayru Desert]]''', and the different language versions of the game change the abbreviation in accordance to the translated words, including Japanese (RS for '''''R'''anēru '''S'''abaku''), Spanish (DL for '''''D'''esierto de '''L'''anayru''), etc. The problem is that the robots existed (or were created) before [[Lanayru Province]] became a desert, when it was still a grove with a sea. This means there is a mistake between the abbreviation and the place it's named after.

Image

I just realized you fixed the little gif on my userpage, thanks. What is the proper way to embed images by the way? PureLocke 20:22, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Yeah!! You only needed to put the image name between [[]]. If you want to change the size, do something like this: [[NAME|120px]]. Jeangabin 17:00, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Ahhh alright I'm more used to the forum [something=url]-name-[/something] format. Thanks again! PureLocke 18:11, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Nakku/Knight

Just a notice in regards to your recent edits: By no means does Nakku mean knight. In fact, the closest translation is Knuckle. Just thought I'd point that out. - TonyT S C 14:03, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

What have I done?! =,(

Hi, Jeangabin. I'm asking for help. I created a category: It's Racing games. It's supposed to be a subcategory of minigames where one lists the articles about races, but said articles have the Minigame template already, and it places them in the Minigames category, which leads to redundancy. So I tried to update the template so that adding |type = racing would put the pages about races into the new category, rather than the MG category. It's not working well: Now Beaver Falls Race has both categories in it, and part of the source code I added is blatantly shown in the page, and I have no idea on how to hide that. Seeing your experience on making templates, can you help me here, please? --K2L 13:32, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Never mind, it was a very minor thing I forgot to add while editing the template. I fixed it quickly. Good day =) --K2L 14:01, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok ;) Come back if you have any other question, I'd be glad to help. Also nice job K2L!! Jeangabin 20:04, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Could you take a look at this?

Enemy templates, awesome job!

Consider the case of Twinrova, she's in a Humanoid/Sorcerer grouping, but her embodiment of the fire and ice elements may warrant inclusion in those as well. Bear in mind that I don't say that merely because of her attacks with those elements, but because of her apparent physical form includes them.

Lastly, I think you could branch out of enemy navigation templates and into some of the other cross references you worked on. The ideal candidate for them are things that would be too silly or small as a category and too large or disconnected for see alsos. One of the groups you worked on were teachers if I recall correctly, some other possibilities would be the farmers, bomb shopkeepers, potion shopkeepers, or any other reoccurring professions, maybe even similar themed dungeons using the sage medallion or anything else symbolic of the attribute.

Anyhow, keep up the good work! I don't visit ZW as much anymore, but if you need my attention, feel free to use my talk page at my wiki User:Axiomist/sig 07:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Yeah! Thank you Axiomist ;) I've done a lot of template recently, I'll work on something else before creating other ones. Anyhow, sweet thanks for your help and suggestions!! Jeangabin 23:50, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

To save, or not to save...

But if you use the time when you press "Show Preview," not only to check the work you did (spelling errors, alignment, etc), but also to examine the rest of the article, you can continue to add things as you go until it's perfect and then you can press "Save." Doing so keeps the saves to a minimum and keeps the Recent Changes page clean and tidy! =) Try it out and see how you like it! Keep up the great work!! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 13:19, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Yess... sorry about this. I'll do my best!! Jeangabin 14:35, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok, keep trying! I know it's tough but it's important. You're a good editor, you'll get the hang of it. =D Embyr 75  --Talk-- 21:48, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Lines

Hi Jeangabin, sorry for the misunderstanding earlier in regards to the Snapper page. I was under the impression that nothing should come before the infobox, including the "You may be looking for" sentences (see Ikana Kingdom). Upon further inspection I found that there is some discord. However, I don't believe keeping it on one line is the issue, because the Princess Ruto page line comes before the infobox but is still on two lines (as rendered by my screen resolution). I'll double check this and let you know what I find! =) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 14:25, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Ok!! Jeangabin 16:12, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Update! I talked to Dany and you were right - lines directing people to other pages should go above the userbox. Happy editing! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 19:19, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Images

Hey, those images you uploaded from Zeldapedia? You can't just take those. Our copyright license and Zeldapedia's license do not mix, so we can't use their content and vice versa. It's a legal thing. Also, they don't like it when we do this, and we have rules against it. So next time, try to look elsewhere for images :)User:Justin/sig 15:07, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Ok. Can we use images from strategywiki.org? Jeangabin 15:20, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, sorry that I missed this. (I disappeared for a week again :P) Uh, yeah, we can use Strategy Wiki's images provided that they are properly credited (just say "found on Strategy Wiki" with a link to them)User:Justin/sig 02:23, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Imdel template

Hey, Jeangabin, when you use the imdel template, could you define the reason? You can see the full list on the template's page. Thanks!User:Justin/sig 10:06, 6 August 2010 (EDT)

Ok! I didn't know that, thanks. Jeangabin 10:09, 6 August 2010 (EDT)
No problem :) Another thing, though. When you use thumb in an image, you can't choose the size of the image with (x)px. It's because a thumbnail is a smaller version of an image. I think frame will allow you to select a size, though. Just preview before saving (as always) ;)User:Justin/sig 11:39, 6 August 2010 (EDT)
Ok ;) Jeangabin 11:52, 6 August 2010 (EDT)

Great job!

Hey, Jeangabin! Just wanted to drop in and tell you that you've been doing a great job at cleaning up this wiki and making it a lot better! You've done a good job with all of those new pages that you've been creating, and also making our Characters pages look way neater than I could have possibly hoped. All of those small edits you're making go a long way to improving this wiki, so keep it up! :) Dany36 21:40, 10 August 2010 (EDT)

Merci!! Jeangabin 07:33, 11 August 2010 (EDT)

Regarding a few of your images in the Background Removal (Transparency) section of the Image Requests page

(png is usually preferred because it supports a greater range of colours and supports translucency as well as transparency.) --Nosh 08:26, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

Done! I didn't how to convert a jpg to png, but I've found how on the web. Also thank you very much for the background removals!! Jeangabin 08:47, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
Not a problem. Glad I could help. Out of curiosity, what program do you use for editing images? I ask, because I'm wondering what's causing your png images to have white backgrounds in the first pace. --Nosh 08:51, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
Paint. Jeangabin 09:00, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
Ah. That would do it. Paint doesn't support any form of transparency. If you're ambitious, you may want to try your hand at learning to use GIMP. It's a bit more advanced than Paint, and it has support for transparency. It's a bit different in how it's laid out though, so it can be tough to get the hang of. For a free image editor, it's decent. Paint.net is also supposed to be quite good, though I haven't used it myself. Of course, if you'd rather not take the time to learn to use a new program, it's very little trouble for me to continue removing backgrounds for you, and I'd be fine with doing so. --Nosh 10:33, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
Ok! I'll try it if I can. Thanks ;) Jeangabin 10:42, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

Merge Discussions

Jeangabin, even if a merger seems logical, there must always, always, always be discussion about it before it happens. I'm sorry that you did so much work to the Anju's Grandmother page for the merger, but there was no discussion for it! What if some of the community disagrees with the merge? What if it's not the best for the content? By jumping in and doing it in haste, you cut out any opinions that may be had by the community and only work from your own! I hate to see so much work go down the drain, but it can all be avoided if there is just some discussion next time! ;) User:Cipriano 119/sig 11:11, 17 August 2010 (EDT)

I leaved a message on the talk page, but had no responses. Jeangabin 11:43, 17 August 2010 (EDT)
Then you wait! Merges shouldn't happen in haste. You must have some sort of discussion before something like a merge happens. It may seem urgent to us editors, however to readers/non-editors that visit the wiki, a merge may not even seem necessary, apparent, or even appropriate. All in all, though it seems like it may take forever to amass opinions, it must be done to get an accurate assessment of the practicality of the merge. Discussion is how the world spins! User:Cipriano 119/sig 02:08, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

Question

Hi, Jeangabin! I have a question about this article which you created. It has been brought to our attention that some portions of the article are similar to the article found on Zeldapedia. This coincides with several other new articles you've created, which have also had numerous similarities. Some have even had sentences copied word for word. Now, I'd like to ask you fairly: have you been copying, paraphrasing, or referencing their articles when creating ones on Zelda Wiki? Please give us an honest, straight answer.User:Justin/sig 00:43, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

In no way, this comes mainly from the characters lists found here on ZW. Jeangabin 08:15, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

While we truely want to believe you, there is evidence suggesting you copied from us, such as this revision http://zeldawiki.org/index.php?title=Mage&oldid=231862

"Despite supporting Vaati, they are not harmful enough to be considered enemies. {Despite the fact that the Mages are followers of Vaati, they aid Link many times throughout the stages. One Mage gives Link a Moon Pearl needed to open a Moon Gate. Another gives him the Magic Book to give to another Mage, Iris. One Mage claims he created the Bombos and Quake Medallions and allows Link to use a Quake Medallion.}

This is almost direct text, fully, in some cases, to that of Zeldapedia's Mage article. It is even more interesting because you repeat the same sentence twice, "Despite supporting Vaati, they are not harmful enough to be considered enemies. {Despite the fact that the Mages are followers of Vaati, they aid Link many times throughout the stages", One of them being the same text from Zeldapedia, and it seems that you deleted the old sentence after paraphrasing the original. In other words, this catches you in the act of copying from there, so if you are prepared to deny it once more, I have nothing further to address.User:Steven/sig 09:10, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

Yess this! You know I try to find info anywhere if they aren't here, even on french websites. Jeangabin 09:15, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Very well. I hope you understand that this means you've broken a rule and that there will be consequences for it. Please be prepared to face those consequences.User:Justin/sig 11:45, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Ok then! But can I see where is the rule please? Jeangabin 11:52, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
The rule is plagarism and it's the biggest unspoken rule across the literary world. User:Cipriano 119/sig 11:55, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
I think it may even be illegal. --Wilbur 11:57, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Really I don't care, do it if it makes the people from ZP happy. Jeangabin 12:01, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
You don't care? You were outraged about the instances of ZP plagiarizing us, but you don't care about plagiarizing them? --Wilbur 12:09, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
I was not talking about this. Jeangabin 12:10, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
We're not doing it to "make the people from ZP happy". You plagarized from their site, you will get the consequences. You plagarize from anywhere and we find out, you will get the consequences. Plagarism anywhere will result in consequences - in the real world, or online. There is a difference between researching information and inserting sentences into an article from another site and paraphrasing them, moving them around, or even keeping them in their original state. That is plagarism, and it is looked down upon everywhere. Jeangabin, we are taking action in compliance with our policy. Please take responsibility for your actions - we can't just let you continue to copy information from ZP or other sites. User:Cipriano 119/sig 12:12, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
