The Great Fairy's Sword is a powerful recurring item and unique Sword in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name reference needed]
Location and Uses[]
Majora's Mask[]
Link can obtain the Great Fairy's Sword by collecting all 15 Stray Fairies in the Stone Tower Temple and returning them to the Fairy's Fountain in Ikana Canyon. Doing so will return the Great Fairy of Kindness back to normal, who will thank Link and give him the Sword as a reward for his help.[2]
Unlike the other Swords in Majora's Mask - the Kokiri Sword, Razor Sword, and Gilded Sword, the Great Fairy's Sword is equipped to the C Buttons as an item rather than the standard B Button, which is an unusual feature among The Legend of Zelda series for this type of weapon.[3] Being a large, double-handed Sword, much like the Biggoron's Sword in Ocarina of Time, it cannot be used in concurrence with a Shield. If the shield button is pressed, the young Hero of Time will crouch. To counter this disadvantage, it deals four times as much damage as the Kokiri Sword, making it the most powerful Sword in the game,[4] alongside with the Fierce Deity Sword wielded by Fierce Deity Link. Moreover, Link can use the Great Fairy's Sword even if he is jinxed by a Blue Bubble.
Other Appearances[]
SoulCalibur II[]
In SoulCalibur II, the Great Fairy's Sword referred to as the Great Fairy Sword, appears as one of Link's available weapons. It serves as his Ultimate Weapon,[5] and can be purchased from the Cepheus Shop along with the Hylian Shield for 9800 Gold while playing the Weapon Master Mode. When equipped, it increases Link's attack by 20% but also causes him to take 20% block damage compared to the usual 10%. This penetrable guard is countered by the fact that the sword will cause Link's health to regenerate by 5 HP every second. The blade is longer than the Master Sword, but shorter than the Biggoron's Sword.
Hyrule Warriors[]
Trivia[]
- The Great Fairy's Sword (alongside the Fierce Deity Sword) is coincidentally as powerful as the Biggoron's Sword from the game's prequel, as both mighty blades deal four times the strength of the Kokiri Sword.
- According to Soul Calibur II, the likely reason why the Great Fairy's Sword had lost its protective power is due to the fact that Termina ceased to exist after the events of Majora's Mask and Link is also in the Soul universe, despite preserving the weapon. It is also claimed to be the ultimate sword in-game.
- Much like the Biggoron's Sword in Ocarina of Time, if Link were to wield the Great Fairy's Sword during cutscenes, he would carry the colorful blade in only one hand.
