::In answer to your first question, the images which I added to [[Ship Parts]] are from the official [http://www.zelda.com/phantomhourglass/ Phantom Hourglass minisite]. Unfortunately, it's incomplete and currently has images only for those ships. I don't know an easy way to get an image from your DS to PC; a standard photo would turn out pretty bad, and I don't know if there is any kind of hardware which can be connected to the DS (either to input video to another source or to copy data). The best quality screenshot would be from an emulated copy on PC (don't know if that's possible for DS games yet).

::The second question is easier! To create a new userbox, just copy the code from an existing box and substitute a new image, text and colours. Make sure to call the new template: '''Template:User xxxx''' (where xxxx is the description).

How do I make a signature like your's, instead of a simple link?--[[User:Eponasowner|Claire]] 00:22, 18 February 2008 (EST)

:It's pretty simple really, just go to your Preferences, and edit the text in the "Nickname" box with whatever wiki markup you'd like (you have to make sure that the "Raw signatures" box is checked also). Let me know if you need any help with it. —[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] ([[User talk:Adamcox82|talk]]) 02:45, 18 February 2008 (EST)

== Confused... ==

The user Captain Conflake is listed under the list of bureaucrats. He is alo listed under the list of Trolls. Did somebody lie? Cornflake seems to have done some trollish things, like createing the article ZU Death List. --[[User:Link hero of light|Link hero of light]] 16:08, 3 January 2008 (EST)

:If you read his [[User:Captain Cornflake|user page]] and [[Special:Contributions/Captain_Cornflake|contribs]] it'll make more sense :) He's webmaster at [[ZeldaInformer]], hence automatically a [[sysop]] here. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 16:44, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Do you think you can delete some of his articles like Captain's Cock, ZU Death List and Capnmas. If those articles are on the wiki we mind as well get a article about my pet cat, my birthday and all the people I hate. It's no longer a zelda wiki, none of those articles are even video game related, it's just like adding an Indiana Jones or an I Love Lucy article!--[[User:Link hero of light|Link hero of light]] 23:50, 3 January 2008 (EST)

:If you check the [http://zeldawiki.org/index.php?title=Capnmas&action=history history] on Capnmas, you'll see that you're not the first to think this, or the first to be told otherwise by sysops. If I went around deleting this sort of stuff all the time, pretty soon we'd end up with a LOT of empty categories:

*[[:Category:Community]]

*[[:Category:Zelda Universe Community]]

*[[:Category:Misc]]

*[[:Category:Misc (Other)]]... --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 02:52, 4 January 2008 (EST)

I already cheked the histrory, but some of the articles in those categorys deserve to stay. Since Captain Cornflake appears to not be on the wiki anymore, why don't we merge those articles with his user page. If he left he can't do anything about it.--[[User:Link hero of light|Link hero of light]] 10:26, 4 January 2008 (EST)

==Image question==

I get the feeling putting "&" in the name of an image was not a good idea. It shows up in links, but I can't get the image's page up. - Image:Impa&LinkTLOZ.jpg - Is there a way to fix this and why does this happen?[[User:IfIHaveTo|IfIHaveTo]] 12:20, 5 January 2008 (EST)

:Never use '''&'''! Ever! In the name of anything!!

:Sorry, it's a painful lesson I learned myself :) The problem is that the wiki software cannot recognise the & symbol (and probably a number of other special characters as well - please don't try it!) You know how Windows won't let you use certain characters like ? or > is a filename? It's the same sort of thing. What seems to happen is that everything after the & sign just can't be recognized. For example [[Ball & Chain Trooper]] just links to a page called [[Ball]]! I had a real problem recently when someone decided to move [[Ball and Chain Trooper]] to the pagename containing the &, which then couldn't be accessed! We lost all of the edit history of the page, but fortunately I managed to drag the recent content back to the correct pagename.

:In answer to your question about the image, it's been stored in the wiki's image database ok ([http://www.zeldawiki.org/images/e/e0/Impa&LinkTLOZ.jpg here]), and you can still embed it in an article like this: [[Image:Impa&LinkTLOZ.jpg|thumb|right]]

:But that's it! You can't access the image's page by any means I have found, so there's no way for me to delete it, or for it to be renamed or moved. Jason may be able to delete it directly from the server, but I'd say it's best left alone. So the moral of the story is, no '''&''' signs! ;) --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 12:56, 5 January 2008 (EST)

Thank you. I'll make sure to never ever use any such symbol again. I re-uploaded the pic under a different name and put it in the article, so if Jason returns, he can delete the wrong file. I'm also sorry for uploading the same pictures for the Impa article (why on earth DID I check the Link gallery to see if those images were already uploaded, but not the Zelda II article?). I've replaced them as well, so Image:ImpaTAOL.gif, Image:ImpaTAOL2.gif and Image:ImpaTAOL3.gif can be deleted now.[[User:IfIHaveTo|IfIHaveTo]] 09:15, 6 January 2008 (EST)

I noticed you are in the process of doing a major overhall of all A Link to the Past pages. I thought i should mention that I have GIFs of the in-game Sprite and Artwork of all LttP items and some characters, I'll be adding them to their appropriate pages but will leave the information to you since I have never played LttP.

:Excellent, I'll try and clean up the articles a little where needed. I was mainly focusing on the enemies, which reminds me, does anyone know what this one is actually called and if it already has an article? [[Image:Kyameron.gif|right]]

:Also, you'd probably be best to post your storyline as a section within your user page (there's not really an appropriate area for fan content within the Main namespace of the wiki). --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 13:09, 6 January 2008 (EST)

==Crediting Images==

While I completely agree about the images, it saddens me that all the time I spend for my own personal site is basically useless as the images are soon to be stolen and used everywhere else. Can't people make their own images? Or at least credit the original source. Who cares if technically you don't have to, but how about just out of the kindness of your heart. Do I really need to start branding them with my own sites url in the background???

:Hi Mases, first of all let me say that I think [[Zelda Dungeon|your site]] is excellent, and you've done a great job of getting some really unique images. I'm sorry that you feel aggrieved to find the images reused here without being credited, and I must admit that I'm one of the main culprits :/ In my defence I would say that I currently have over 700 images saved on my HDD to be potentially uploaded here, and I honestly have no idea where I downloaded the majority of them from! Most were obtained some time ago, and more recently I have attempted to credit the images I have uploaded here wherever possible. I would also point out that the extra time taken to credit each of the 1200 images I have uploaded here could have easily eaten up whole days out of my life... But all excuses aside, your point is valid and deserves affirmative action. One of the most valuable groups of images of yours which I have used here were those of the [http://www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda10Figurines.php Minish Cap figurines], possibly available only from your site. As soon as I have enough time to do a proper job of it, I will go through and credit all of these to you, along with any others I can remember. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 19:06, 12 January 2008 (EST)

== More staff + place to meet ==

I'd like to expand ZW.org's *active* staff members to more than just you. I still attest that you're horribly overworked, even if you attest that you're so OCD about helping around here that you can't help it. So, my proposal is: (a) weed out the inactive Sysops, (b) get news ones that will remain active, and (c) have a place where all staff (including webmasters of owning sites) can come together and easily discuss and collaborate. What do you think? --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 16:51, 6 March 2008 (EST)

:Sounds great. I've seen lots of excellent contributors to the wiki come and go in the past, so if some of our current high-quality consistent editors could be persuaded to stick around as sysops, that would be ideal. And that being the case, a "staff area" would be the perfect forum for generating and driving improvements, and maintaining high standards. —[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] ([[User talk:Adamcox82|talk]]) 17:13, 6 March 2008 (EST)

I think [[User:Ando|Ando]] should be promoted to a sysop. He's done alot of helpful things on the wiki. And, athough he's not to active, I think [[User:Green Tunic|Green Tunic]] should be considered.--[[User:Link hero of light|Link hero of light]] 19:25, 6 March 2008 (EST)

Lol I visit once in a while. I've been busy with school, but things have calmed down for a while. So I'll be more active again. You don't have to nominate me but I just wanted to mention it.--[[User:Green Tunic|Green]] 21:05, 6 March 2008 (EST)

:::I'm going to look into finding a way where the staff can have centralized, private discussions. I don't want to install wiki forum software because then it would be open to other people, and that would defeat the purpose of owners having their own forums. This wiki can never have a forum - that much is true - but a similar solution just for staff to collaborate and discuss wiki-related issues and possible improvements would be good. However, I'm dealing with some troubles on ZU right now, so I need to hold off for a little bit. I need to deal with ZU's designer and fix a problem occurring on the main site before I continue work on the wiki... so just hold on while I brainstorm 'n such. If anybody has anything good to suggest, the floor is open. That includes sysop nominations, I suppose. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 11:19, 7 March 2008 (EST)

Maybe just a phpbb forum under the Zelda Wiki domain? That way you could create as many separate boards as necessary, but have them only viewable by a select group ''(e.g. anyone you set into the group "Moderators" or what have you)''. The only issue with this is that all the staff would have to register separately for these boards, but that would be a one-time thing. Yup.

YOU REVERTED ALL MY EDITS AND DELETED ALL MY PICTURES? WHY THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT? I HATE YOU! DID YOU REALLY NEED TO DO THAT? HONESTLY, WHAT WAS THAT FOR? [[User:Toon Link 2|Toon Link 2]] 16:48, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

:Hi. I'll deal with your points in the order raised:

# ''Q. YOU REVERTED ALL MY EDITS AND DELETED ALL MY PICTURES?''<br>A. Is that a question or a statement? Anyway, yes, I deleted all of the images you uploaded and reverted the edits adding them into articles.

# ''Q. WHY THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT?''<br>A. Because they were inappropriate (see below).

# ''Q. I HATE YOU!<br>''A. You're entitled to feel however you want towards me. I'm not here to be liked. However, it's not appropriate to express such sentiments here, and if you'd said this to any other user than myself I would have blocked you without warning.

# ''Q. DID YOU REALLY NEED TO DO THAT?''<br>A. Erm... yes, I'm afraid so.

# ''Q. HONESTLY, WHAT WAS THAT FOR?''<br>A. The quality of the wiki.

:Let me just say that I appreciate the sentiment behind your edits; you showed great enthusiasm. However, there were a number of issues:[[Image:Revert Toon Link 2.jpg|thumb|right|The newly added image on the left is clearly a poorer quality duplicate of the pre-existing image]]

# The images were of poor quality (blurred, discoloured and distorted)

# They were extremely large (file size and dimensions)

# They were positioned poorly on the pages

# Many duplicated images already present (see right)

# Although you weren't to know this, I have 80 high quality images on my HDD of all of the remaining figurines. That I haven't made time to upload them yet is partly due to the fact that much of my time here is spent patrolling edits and not contributing myself.

8. Where should I put them, then?

You ask them if they want to be freinds or get to know them and then you just kind of become freinds overtime.--[[User:Link hero of light|Link hero of light]] 18:52, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

==How do you do that?==

How do you get your signature to say Adam when your username is Adamcox82 all the time? Can you teach me how to get mine to say David (My first name)? Oh, and how do you get that little talk thing in parenthesis on the right side of your name to appear? Any help is appreciated.

--[[User:Seablue254|Seablue254]] 15:48, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

:Well, I'm not Adam, but I can still tell you how to do this. :P Basically, just click "my preferences" in the top-right of the screen, make sure that "Raw signatures" is checked ''(this will allow you to make whatever signature you want)'', then in the "Nickname" box, just type in what you want to have appear as your signature, making sure to link your name to your user page ''(using <nowiki>[[User:Seablue254|whateveryouwantyournametobe]]</nowiki>)''. The "(Talk)" like Adam has is achieved similarly; just with <nowiki>[[User talk:Seablue254|Talk]]</nowiki>.

:You can test it out after you've saved it by just typing the <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> on a page and clicking '''Show preview'''. That way, you don't have to save something that may not have worked. Hope that helps. --[[User:Ando|Ando]] <small>''([[User talk:Ando|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Ando|C]])''</small> 15:54, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

Ok. now I can get my name to say David. (Check out the signature). However, when i checked on raw signatures, it didn't make the signature a link, but it worked when not checked. Weird? Hm. Anyway, will i need to type out the talk link, or is there a way to do that while still typing the ~? Thanks.

--[[User:Seablue254|David]] 17:13, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

:Well, the "Raw signature" button, when unchecked, automatically makes whatever you type in the Nickname box linked. So you have to actually type the link in the Nickname box, while leaving the Raw signature button checked. For instance, in my Nickname box, I have this: ''<nowiki>[[User:Ando|Ando]] ([[User talk:Ando|Talk]])</nowiki>''. The first part gives my name, with the link to my user page, and the second part links to my talk. And all of it is generated with the <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>, including the time ''(which you don't need to do anything special to add)''. Feel free to copy and paste my code, editing it as you need to. --[[User:Ando|Ando]] <small>''([[User talk:Ando|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Ando|C]])''</small> 17:20, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

Cool! Thanks Ando, I find this really helpful! It's really cool! I probably be playing around with this until I find something I like, but this is helpful! Thanks again!

:Hey, no problem. Heh, I just realized that the code I posted was for my old signature; my current one is different. Oh well, it still works, yeah? :P Glad I could help, though. Have fun tweaking it. --[[User:Ando|Ando]] <small>''([[User talk:Ando|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Ando|C]])''</small> 18:05, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

== Dividing the Workload ==

Yeah, this was something I was thinking about, as well. I know that alternating days might be the best option I can think of, but there still might be issues with that if something unexpected arises that keeps us from the Wiki all day ''(as was demonstrated by myself yesterday)''... But I guess one of us could just pick up the extra slack for that day if that were to happen. So perhaps we should go for that?<br>

Also, thanks for the welcome. :D --[[User:Ando|Ando]] <small>''([[User talk:Ando|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Ando|C]])''</small> 17:18, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

:Cool, well to start with do you wanna take care of today's edits and I'll mark up everything left over from yesterday? Then we could just alternate from there. And yeah, we can just play it by ear if one of us is away for a while. Also, I'm gonna make an assumption that your recent changes is set to "advanced" (groups edits of the same article), and that you've spotted your new "hide patrolled" feature? —[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] ([[User talk:Adamcox82|talk]]) 17:37, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

::Sounds good. We'll go with that.

::Also, I've found the "Hide patrolled edits" button, but... not the "advanced". From your description it sounds awesome. Where do I find this miracle button? :O --[[User:Ando|Ando]] <small>''([[User talk:Ando|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Ando|C]])''</small> 18:13, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

::Scratch that. I found it. I'm honestly not sure how it helps, though ''(I can't even find the "mark as patrolled" button in this state)''. Think I might just stick with the regular format. --[[User:Ando|Ando]] <small>''([[User talk:Ando|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Ando|C]])''</small> 18:18, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

:::Oops, it would've helped if I'd actually told you the right name :) What I'm guessing you realised I was getting at was the '''Enhanced recent changes''' option in Preferences under Recent Changes. It has advantages and disadvantages over the regular view, and it took me a while to get used to. But I find it a lot easier to be able to view all multiple changes to an article at one straight from Recent Changes, without them being scattered all over. Anyway, whichever you prefer, it's just useful to know it's there if you need it. Also, do you use Firefox? I could recommend some excellent time-saving plugins I use if you wanted ;) —[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] ([[User talk:Adamcox82|talk]]) 21:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

==Question on template==

I saw today that you helped make the templates on how to give credit for images. My question is.. on userboxes, will i need to use those templates on them, or will the change on the pictures page automatically update my image? Or is it just supposed to go on the pictures page and not the actual picture? Thanks for listening. --[[User:Seablue254|David]] ([[User talk:Seablue254|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Seablue254|C]]) 19:32, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

:Erm, if I've understood what I think you're asking, the [[:Category:Image Templates|new image templates]] should <u>only</u> be used on stuff in the [http://www.zeldawiki.org/index.php?title=Special%3AAllpages&from=&namespace=6 "image" namespace]. If that's not very clear, think of it like this: if the address/URL bar shows '''<nowiki>http://www.zeldawiki.org/Image:.....</nowiki>''', then it needs a template. Otherwise, don't use one :) —[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] ([[User talk:Adamcox82|talk]]) 21:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

I understand it now. I thought that the template was actually supposed to be ''on'' the image. So i thought that i would have to open up the image in paint and actually paint something on to the image of my userboxes. I now see how stupid my question was ;) --[[User:Seablue254|David]] ([[User talk:Seablue254|T]] : [[Special:Contributions/Seablue254|C]]) 21:33, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
