Goponga Flowers are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are often found in humid, swampy climates.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Goponga Flower

Goponga Flowers are an indigenous strain of plant that grow only in Goponga Swamp. Link can neither pick them up nor cut them down with the Sword, which poses a challenge when he tries to enter Bottle Grotto, the second dungeon in the game; flowers surround the dungeon entrance. There also exists a bigger breed of Goponga Flower known as the Giant Goponga Flower, which fires what appear to be fireballs at Link.

The only way to remove the flowers is to rescue Bow-Wow that, at one point, is abducted from Mabe Village. If Link brings Bow-Wow into the swamp, he will consume the flowers which block Link's path, then wait outside while Link retrieves the Conch Horn, the second Instrument of the Sirens. The flowers can also be defeated with the Hookshot, the Ultimate Sword and the Magic Rod.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons

Goponga Flowers are found only in Spool Swamp in Holodrum, and appear in varying numbers based on the current season, appearing most prolifically in summer. They can be destroyed with the Magical Boomerang, Ember Seeds, or a Spin Attack. They attack by shooting fireballs at Link. One also appears in Jabu-Jabu's Belly in Labrynna.
