Description
This giant horse is the last of its kind. Its physical capabilities completely overshadow those of regular horses, but its temperament is extremely wild. Only a truly skilled rider can train, or even catch, this beast of a mount. This is a horse that chooses its rider.

The Giant Horse is a massive Wild Horse with charcoal-colored fur. Its mane and tail are a distinctly orange color. Registering it at a Stable equips this Horse with a Bridle and Saddle that also feature tufts of orange fur; its Bridle and Saddle cannot be changed. It is found in the Taobab Grassland among a herd of regularly-sized Horses. Link must capture the Giant Horse in order to complete the "Hunt for the Giant Horse" Side Quest, given by Straia at the Mounted Archery Camp. Link must ride past two Lynels in order to return to the Mounted Archery Camp with the Giant Horse.

The Giant Horse cannot gallop and has poor speed, but it is one of the strongest steeds available as compensation. Though its speed is ranked poorly, it does travel considerably faster than other horses of the same speed stat as it takes much larger steps.

Trivia[]

  • The Giant Horse bears a resemblance to Ganondorf's Steed, which was also a large horse with black fur and an orange mane.
  • The Giant Horse, the White Horse, the Lord of the Mountain, and Patricia are the only individuals to get their own unique entries in the Hyrule Compendium separate from their own species.
  • Because registered horses from BotW transfer over to TotK, the Giant Horse can be brought into the latter game. However, it cannot be used with any utility saddles and cannot have its gear or mane changed, just like the previous game.
